“Allora Sterling. She plays the part of the barista at the coffee shop.”

“Oh, right. Yeah, I could go for some food. I never ate today.”

“Same.” Serena chuckles. “Not that I can eat much of anything…those extra ten pounds the camera adds are killing me.”

“One of many reasons I’m much happier behind the scenes!”

“Imagine being married to a chef. I mean, he’s not trained as one, but it’s a hobby of his and he’s amazing in the kitchen.”

“I can’t imagine having that available and not being able to eat.”

“I love my job,” she says with a wry grin. “So I suck it up. Besides, who knows if we’ll even get renewed for a second season.”

“What will you do if we don’t?”

“Probably get pregnant.” She laughs. “West understands my career is important but we do want more kids. If the show is renewed I’ll stay on and take things one season at a time, but eventually, they’ll either have to write in a pregnancy or I’ll leave. But that won’t be for a few years. What about you? What’s next when you finish here?”

“I don’t know,” I admit. “There’s always work, and I’m lucky to be in a position to pick and choose the projects I work on. I like being here because of Reid, so I may not take any other jobs for a bit.”

“Cash have anything to do with that decision?” she asks with a grin.

I grimace. “Not at all. I get the feeling he’s one of those guys who doesn’t do relationships. I’m okay with an occasional one-nighter, but I’m also not interested in being anyone’s fuck buddy.”

She nods. “Yeah, I think we all get to a point where we don’t want it to be just sex. There’s a time and a place for that, but maybe not with a guy on your brother’s pro hockey team.”

“Exactly.”

“What did Reid say when you told him?”

“He asked if I really liked him and I said I don’t have any feelings one way or the other. It was one night. We didn’t even exchange numbers.”

“That makes sense. Maybe—” She pauses as her phone buzzes. “Hang on, it’s West.” She types something in. “He wants to know where we’re going for dinner. He and Grim want to meet up with us.”

“Grim?”

“Oh, sorry. You’ve met Landon, right? He’s on the security team here. His name is Landon Grimshaw, but most people call him Grim. He’s also Allora’s boyfriend.”

“Got it.”

“Anyway, it looks like Landon, West, and Chris all want to come to dinner. That okay with you?” Chris is also part of the security team here at the set.

I nod. “Sure. Whatever you want.”

She starts typing on her phone and then puts it back in her pocket. “Okay, we’re going to that Italian place in Roswell. That work for you?”

“Sure.” I nod.

“You’ll be ready to go in ten minutes?” Serena drove me today so she’s my ride.

“I’ll be ready.”

Ten minutes later, we’re in her SUV heading for Roswell. The small town where the show is shot is a little off the beaten path and sometimes traffic can be hellacious. Luckily, it’s just after seven so rush hour traffic has died down and we get there in thirty minutes.

“Hockey season is going to be hard,” Serena says as she pulls into a parking spot. “With West playing and traveling, and me being on the set for long hours, we’re going to be apart a lot.”

“Are you worried about that?” I ask.

“Not the way you’re thinking, like that he might cheat or whatever. He wouldn’t do that. But I think being apart so much will put a strain on us, especially since I’ll have to devote most of my free time to Joey.”
