Scarlett and Her Prince Charming

He’d made that seem like we’d done way more than dinner. And I saw Jacob ball his hands into fists out of the corner of my eye.
“I’m sorry,” I said again. “I’m staying with Jacob.”
Leo sighed. “Well, when you’re ready to hang out with your kiss thief again, I’m here.” He walked past Jacob, bumping his shoulder into him.
Jacob shook his head and just stared at me.
I stepped closer so no one could hear us. “I didn’t blow him,” I whispered.
“Then what was Sophie talking about?”
“Leo...um...went to third base on me. Not the other way around. I’m so sorry. I wanted to tell you...”
“But you didn’t. I flat out asked you and you lied to me.”
Technically Sophie had lied. But I hadn’t corrected her. “I’m sorry.” I felt tears welling in the corners of my eyes. “When Leo did that at homecoming, all I was thinking about was that I wished it was you. I came and found you right after. Jacob, I’m so sorry. But I was upset that night. I thought you liked Olivia and...”
Jacob exhaled slowly. “Come on.” He put his hand out for me. “We’re going home.”
“Okay.” I slipped my hand into his.
Jacob pulled me off the dance floor and into the entranceway. We walked out of the party in complete silence. He didn’t say a word to me as we got onto the elevator. Or when we walked outside. Or when he helped me into his truck.
Whatever high I had was completely gone. And I really wished I’d gotten to eat another brownie. Because that was a lot more fun than this tension. The silence between us was unbearable. But the alternative was worse, I guess. Because I was pretty sure that whenever Jacob started talking to me again, he’d be breaking up with me.
Chapter 12 – Single Girl Rule #47
Saturday
Jacob cut the engine outside my apartment building. That was a good sign. It meant he didn’t want me to just get out and leave. But he still wasn’t looking at me. And I was a little worried about his left eye. It was starting to swell.
“Jacob, I’m so sorry. I wanted to tell you the truth...”
“But you didn’t.” He kept staring out the windshield.
I knew what Sophie would probably tell me to do in this situation. She’d say I needed to earn his forgiveness. I glanced down at the front of Jacob’s jeans. There was no way he was hard right now. But road head was a thing that guys liked, right? He’d get into it. And he wasn’t driving, so it wasn’t dangerous or anything. This would definitely make it up to him.
I unbuckled my seatbelt and leaned over the center console. I placed my hand on Jacob’s zipper.
He grabbed my hand. “What are you doing?”
“I...um...I think it’s a Single Girl Rule? Like Single Girl Rule #47: Always give your boyfriend a blowjob when he’s upset with you?” I wasn’t even sure if there were 47 rules. But this seemed like a good addition if there wasn’t. I pulled his zipper down.
Jacob laughed.
And that made me laugh.
“Sophie and her new rules.” He shook his head as he zippered his jeans. “Come with me.” He climbed out of his truck.
What? I hurried after him. I was relieved when he grabbed my hand and led me inside. And I was a little more relieved when he hit the floor number for my secret lair.
Jacob pulled out his key when we reached the door. It was still very strange that we all had keys to this place. He was quiet as we made our way down the hall and into my secret lair. I mean our secret lair.
I dropped his hand and grabbed a cold water from the minifridge. “I can go get some ice for your eye if you want. But this might help.” I handed it to him.
He set it down instead of putting it against his eye.
It was going to be so swollen by tomorrow.
