“I don’t know why everyone calls it that,” Scarlett said. “It’s our secret lair.”
Gah!
“I need so much more information,” Adonis said. “Where is this secret lair?”
“Underneath baby doll’s room,” RJ said.
Scarlett sighed at RJ’s use of her nickname.
“Wait,” Adonis said. “Why is RJ allowed to call Scarlett baby doll, and I’m not allowed to call her pumpkin?”
Axel laughed.
My eyes grew round. Why did Axel laugh?! He was supposed to hate Adonis. He was my only hold out.
“Everyone should just use my actual name,” Scarlett said.
“Except me, baby,” Axel said and lightly bit her earlobe.
Her cheeks turned scarlet.
“Back to her secret lair,” RJ said. “You’re going to love this, Adonis. We put a hole in her bedroom floor that leads to the apartment below hers. That apartment belongs to Liam’s girlfriend.”
“Not my girlfriend,” Liam said. “It’s casual.”
“Right,” RJ said. “But it’s been very useful.”
“Easy access to your girl’s place,” Adonis said to Axel. “That must be nice.” His thigh brushed against mine again.
“It’s definitely been useful,” Axel said.
“They pretty much spend every night together,” Liam said. “My dad would be so pissed if he knew.”
Adonis laughed.
I stared at him. We didn’t really know this guy. I felt like everyone was telling him way too much information. He could use this to get us into a lot of trouble. But I seemed to be the only one that remembered we were ever suspicious of him.
“So...shall we met there?” Adonis asked. “I’d love to see it.”
I looked at Jacob for help. I was pretty sure I was having a mini panic attack.
He lowered his eyebrows when he saw my expression. “We can meet up at my place after school,” he said.
Thank you, Jacob.
“Sounds good,” Adonis said. “I heard your mom makes the best desserts in the city.”
Where had he heard that?
Jacob laughed. “She does.”
“This’ll be fun,” Adonis said.
That was one way to put it.
“There you are,” said a sickly sweet voice.
I didn’t bother to turn around. I knew who the voice belonged to. Gigi. And I also knew whose attention she was trying to get. Because it certainly wasn’t anyone else’s at this table.
