“Wait! Good thinking.”
“What?”
“I’ll just ask Uncle James for Mr. Halifax’s cell number.”
Scarlett grabbed my arm like I was about to stroll off and do it right now. “Don’t you dare.”
“Why not?”
“What do you mean why not? I don’t want you talking to my dad about Mr. Halifax, he hates him.”
“Hate is a strong word...”
“Soph.”
“Scar.”
“Do you not remember them beating each other up at homecoming? I feel like your brain is short circuiting.”
I laughed. “I remember. Is your dad not over that yet? That was ages ago now.”
Scarlett just stared at me.
“Is that a no?”
“Of course it’s a no! My dad thought I was hooking up with Mr. Halifax because you forced me to dance with him.”
I held back a laugh. Scarlett’s face was priceless right now. “Chill, I’m not going to ask your dad for Mr. Halifax’s number. Because you’re going to give it to me, Miss School President.”
Scarlett sighed.
“I know you have access.”
“Can’t you just get RJ to hack the school’s system?”
I shrugged. “Good thinking. RJ!” I yelled down the hall at my brother.
RJ tapped Liam’s shoulder and the two of them walked over. “What’s up, baby doll?” he said to Scarlett.
Scarlett glared at him. “I didn’t call you over here. And stop calling me that.”
“You love when I call you that.”
Scarlett shook her head. “Your sister has a favor to ask you.”
“What’s up?” RJ asked me.
“Can you hack into the school computers and get a list of teachers’ phone numbers?”
“I mean...yes. But why can’t Scarlett just give you the list?”
“I don’t have the list!” Scarlett said.
RJ laughed. “What’s eating her? Oh that’s right, Axel.” He lifted his hand for a high five.
I high fived him.
Scarlett ignored us and grabbed her books out of her locker.
