Me
Who could that be, I wonder… 😉
Corrie
It made my day, you know.
Me
Then mission accomplished.
Corrie
Pity that you aren’t near.
Corrie
We could watch paint dry together.
Me
A few more weeks still.
Corrie
Will you make it to the kids’ birthday?
Me
Still working on it, so don’t say anything.
Corrie
Mom’s the word.
Corrie
Pun intended. 😉
Me
Gotta run, but will catch you later, ok?
Corrie
Sure!
Corrie
And thanks, you’re amazing! x
Of course I look at the tiny x as if it’s the real kiss I’d give anything for, but the smile that goes with it is that of content and pride.
Fine, I’m feeling smug for making her happy with a small nothing. A few days ago, Corrie was tired—and looked it—because with winter and the kids spending more time inside at school, viruses go around, and if one catches something, the other usually follows suit, and it’s often a matter of time before she also gets it, but it takes longer for her to bounce back.
‘It bugs me that I have to be extra cautious,’ she said. ‘Pun intended.’ Because she loves her puns. ‘As a single parent, you simply can’t allow yourself to get sick. Sure, I have Mom and Dad, and Lola, and I know that Dory and Bea would also be happy to help, but seeing the kids sick breaks my heart. Ah, to have the luxury of sitting back and watching paint dry…’
One less day, until I leave in January.
