Rising out of my chair, Anthony’s wife, Ellie, asked, “Do you need any help getting ready?”

Although I wanted to tell her to fuck off, she was too sweet to hurt her feelings. Not to mention if I did, Anthony would probably throw me off the deck. Shaking my head, I replied, “I’m good. But thanks.”

“If you have anything blue or green, you should wear it,” Tim’s wife, Angie, suggested.

“Why?”

“You look really good in that color.”

Tim started choking on his ribs. “Excuse me?”

Angie rolled her eyes. “I can look, can’t I?

When Tim dropped his rib onto his plate and opened his mouth to argue, Macy chimed in, “She’s right. There’s something about the fabric’s color that goes so well with your coloring.”

Now it was Cal’s turn to get rattled. “I’ll keep it in mind,” I replied before he could go off.

And then I hurried from the table before any of the other WAGS could piss off their husbands at my expense.

When I arrived at the restaurant, it was nine on the dot. After opening the front door, a waiter said, “I’m sorry, but we’re closed.”

“Actually, I’m meeting Mina.”

He narrowed his eyes. “It’s a little late for a business meeting.”

Jesus, what was his deal? “Well, I’m not here for that. Mina and I have a date.”

“You have a date with Mina?”

“It would seem so.”

“I see.” After glancing around, he narrowed her eyes. “You make sure you treat her right.”

Holding my hands up, I replied, “I swear I will.”

“Good.” Motioning to me with his hand, he said, “I’ll take you to her office.”

Sucking in a deep breath, I fell in step behind him. When we reached a door at the end of the hallway, he knocked. “It’s Nate, Ms. Hansen.”

“Come in.”

When Nate reached for the doorknob, I swatted his hand away. “I think I’ve got it from here.”

He shot me a scowl before turning and stomping back down the hall. Apparently, it wasn’t just me that Mina had by the balls. After grabbing the knob, I pushed open the door.

At the sight of me, Mina dropped the compact in her hand onto the desk. “Oh, I didn’t realize it was you.”

“Nate insisted on seeing me to your office, as well as threatening me to treat you well.”

She giggled. “What can I say? I have loyal employees.”

“You ma’am, have lust-sick employees.”

“He’s a harmless college kid,” she protested.

“And he jerks off to you every night.”
