“Don’t you need to get home to Owen?”

Gavin shook his head. “He’s got two nannies and all the WAGS watching out for him.”

“Are you sure? I wouldn’t want you to miss bedtime.”

He smiled. “You are way too good for me, you know that?”

“No. I’m not.”

“Obviously you are. I mean, you’re the one worrying about my kid when I just want to keep fucking your brains out as long as my refractory period will last.”

Snorting, I replied, “I can’t believe you said that.”

Holding up a hand, Gavin said, “I always want to be honest with you, and I am thirty-five, not twenty-five.”

“I like you just as you are.”

With a grin, he said, “Okay then, let me ask that question again. What do we do now?”

“If you’re sure Owen is okay, then we get out of here and go back to my place for round two.” Tilting my head in thought, I said, “In light of your previous comment, we won’t worry about rounds three or four. Besides, I wouldn’t be able to walk tomorrow.”

He wagged his brows. “I’ll carry you.”

I snorted. “I’m sure that would have the town tongues wagging at the sight of a professional hockey player carrying me around the restaurant.”

“Let them talk.”

“Yeah, you say that now until someone rats us out to the Atlanta papers, but all of a sudden you’re called into HR.”

“It’d be worth it.”

As I stared at him in all his post sex haze glory, I wasn’t ready to be separated from him just yet. Even if it was a short drive to my house. “You never got to sample my Vanir.”

“No, I didn’t.”

“Well, if you still want to, why don’t I grab a few bottles, and we can head out and drink them by the river under the stars.”

Gavin’s eyes lit up. “You know, that sounds like a fucking amazing idea.”

“Then let’s do it!”

CHAPTER TEN: GAVIN

After Mina filled my arms with several different bottles, she led me outside. From the basement, we came out below the terrace. The roar of the river rushing over the rocks filled my ears while the chatter of the tourists on the main street faded away.

It was far more hidden away than I’d expected. It was so dark I could barely see my hand in front of my face. Using a phone’s flashlight, Mina continued down to the river’s edge. To my surprise, there was a hammock along with Adirondack chairs. Mina turned on a lantern that sat on the table.

As I sucked in a breath of clean, mountain air, peace echoed through me.

Craning my neck, I glanced up at the sky glittering with stars. “I really need to spend more time in nature,” I remarked.

“You think?” Mina asked as she popped the top off of a bottle of the Thor beer.

“Don’t get me wrong. I love being downtown and close to the arena. There’s also something to be said for having everything within walking distance.”

“You pretty much do here as well,” Mina argued.

“It’s not totally the same.”
