I use my knees to spread her legs, pressing myself against her center.
“Do you feel that, Moonlight?”
Cordelya makes a sound somewhere between a strangled cry and a moan.
My hands slip down her arms to cup her face.
“Look at me, Moonlight,” I rasp.
When she opens her eyes, I see twin flames of desire burning.
“Still a gentleman?” she teases, rolling her hips beneath me.
My head drops as pleasure rockets through me.
I moan, “Ask me again in five minutes.”
My hands ghost down her arms to cup her face.
“You’re safe with me, Cordelya.”
Her smile is soft and sweet as she lays her hand on top of mine.
“I know.”
I kiss her again, softer this time, but with no less fire.
When we break apart, she reaches one delicate finger out to trace one lengthened fang.
It takes every ounce of self-restraint and a silent chant of “still” to remain frozen in place while waves of pleasure wash over me.
“Does it hurt?” she whispers.
I blink, caught off guard by her question.
“Does what hurt?” I ask, utterly confused.
“Holding back.”
My sweet Mate.
Whoa.
Oh.
Something settles inside me, filling a hole I hadn’t even realized was there.
“No, Moonlight,” I say, turning my head to kiss her hand, not ready to address my previous thought. “It doesn’t hurt.”
She shoots me a disbelieving look.
I huff out a laugh. “It’s not easy,” I admit. “In all my life, I’ve never had these urges. Then I met you,” My thumb brushes gently across her cheek, “And my whole world changed.”
Her breath hitches as her eyes slightly widen.
“It’s not just your blood, though that calls to me like a siren song. It’s you. The way your laughter sounds like my favorite song. What a caring heart you have. All wrapped up in this incredibly beautiful body.”
“Auggie,” she whispers, voice thick with emotion.
