“Not until he gets his first deposit. Amazingly, after looking into the company, it’s a sound investment. The only one he’s ever landed.”

“Are you going to thank him,” Rochelle asks with a devious smile.

“Not a chance. Any pressing meetings today?”

Rochelle shakes her head.

“Good. Hold my calls, tell them I’m arranging my brother’s funeral,” I say, grabbing my coat and car keys.

“Are you really?”

“What do you think?”

Rochelle sighs. “Alright, I’ll contact your mother and take care of it.”

“There is a reason why I pay you the big bucks,” I say with a smirk.

She rolls her eyes and waves me away.

“Oh, and don’t worry about the flowers. I’ve got them covered.”

“Yeah, yeah, get out of here.”

Walking to the elevator, I know exactly what I’m going to do for lunch.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

EMILY

“These will look exquisite with the dresses,” I say.

Allie is one of the worst brides to ever walk into my shop.

Weddings are stressful, and brides want everything perfect for their special day, but some people really do turn into bridezillas.

She’s changed the size of the arrangements twice, the color of the flowers three times, and now here she is back again because she’s not sure if the pink roses are too pink. She wants something softer, which is what we had initially, and she hated the color and demanded brighter.

I’m over the sobbing and theatrics and ready to stab myself with the pruning shears.

“Are you sure?”

Biting my tongue has become an art in this business. Smiling at Allie, I try a new angle.

“How about we do both?”

She blinks and dabs away the fresh wave of tears.

“What?”

“Rather than just one shade of pink and white…”

I reach out, grab a handful of pink samples, and quickly organize them. Blending the dark, medium, and soft pinks with touches of baby’s breath, I wrap it all with a satin ribbon.

“Why not all of them? You are a bright and vibrant woman who wants to feel delicate and feminine on your wedding day. This gives you the best of both worlds.”

I hold out the makeshift bouquet, ready for her to rage and throw it at my head. She feels like a ticking time bomb standing in front of me. Then her mouth twitches once…twice. Allie looks up at me and smiles.

“Yes…it’s perfect.”
