Victor smirked. “I did warn you not to leave fake reviews.”

“Blah blah, Sassy Fangs is always right. Gimme that laptop.”

Tom Collins slid the laptop down to Zee.

Zee cracked his knuckles and glowered at the screen. “I’ve got this. Be humble and apologetic. I can do that. I am the humblest of humble people that ever humbled.”

“Do it for the sake of the hotel,” I said.

“And our bedrooms,” Victor added.

“Okay, alright . . .” Zee tapped the keyboard, long purple nails clicking the keys.

Finally, we’d have our evening back under control.

Tom Collins leaned a hip against his side of the bar. After a few minutes, he said to me, “You’re just going to let him do the same thing again?”

“He’s got this.” I had absolute faith in Zee.

Tom and I watched Zee tap away for a few beats, then Tom dipped his chin and said, “There’s a definition of foolish. Do you know what it is, Adam?”

“Huh?”

“Doing the same thing again and again and expecting a different result each time.”

I chuckled and flapped a hand. “No . . . he’ll be fine . . .” Zee poked his tongue out the corner of his mouth and typed fast. “See . . .” He didn’t want frogs in his room. He’d do this. “It has to be him. He accepted the consequences. He has to be the one to undo it.”

Tom made a good point. But Zee would be fine. He could do this. He was doing this.

Zee’s eyebrows pinched together. “Oh well fuck.”

“Demon?” Victor enquired.

“It’s fine . . .” Zee said.

It’s fine were not two words you wanted to hear when dealing with an entity that could enter our wards and manipulate the space inside.

“May I take a look?” Victor asked.

“It’s fine, me and the bot are vibing. It’s asking if I’m repentant and I’ve said I don’t like camping but I’m up for anything with enough lube.”

“Demon, repentant has nothing to do with tents. Are you flirting with the bot?”

Zee’s face screwed up. “Maybe?”

“Give me that.” Victor grabbed the laptop.

“No, I’m chatting!” Zee pulled it back. “Let go.”

Victor tugged harder. “Zodiac, your shocking lack of proper grammar is going to ruin our night again.”

The laptop creaked, trapped between their powerful grips.

“It has to be me!”

Uh-oh. “Guys, maybe—”
