Another blink. He slowly tilted his head forward and looked down. “There’s something . . . in my thong . . . that’s not . . . me.”

Oh dear.

We’d all seen his thong. Everyone in the hotel had seen his thong. He definitely didn’t have room for unwanted guests down there.

This was bad. Zee was doing great. I’d have lost it if there’d been a frog down my pants.

“That’s unfortunate,” Victor said. “Allow me to rectify that for you.”

Victor stepped in front of Zee, met his gaze, and slowly went down to his knees. Frogs hopped left and right. They even hopped on Victor’s back. He didn’t notice or didn’t care. He took Zee’s hips under his hands, as though to steady him, then moved his hands to Zee’s thighs. After that, and in the dark, I couldn’t see much, but I heard Zee’s breathing slow and Victor’s quicken.

Was this supposed to be hot?

The frogs weren’t helping, but seeing Victor on his knees in front of my incubus, dealing with a problem that happened to be situated somewhere Victor and I knew well . . .

“How is that?” Victor asked from his kneeling position.

Zee’s gaze stayed locked on Victor’s. He didn’t seem scared anymore. His grip on my fingers had eased, and his breathing had calmed.

I suspected Victor had known Zee could use the distraction, and using the one thing he couldn’t resist had made him forget all about the frogs.

Victor slowly rose. “Open the door, demon.”

“You’re not the boss of me, vampire.”

Their gazes remained locked. Even I could feel the heat radiating off them now. Lust. And Zee was soaking it all up, getting stronger with every heartbeat.

Victor stepped aside, and Zee strode forward, grabbed the door, and yanked it open. A wave of frogs spilled toward us, swept up by the movement, but Zee was already outside. His glow lit up the dark entrance lobby.

His wings popped out. He spread them wide, filling the space with all his sparkling, demonic glory—that just so happened to be dressed in a maid’s costume. He’d walked through frogs, he’d conquered his fear, and he radiated triumph. “I am fearless!”

He spun, dragged Victor against him, and devoured him in a kiss, bending Victor close. Much of Victor’s long hair had escaped its band, and he’d already looked disheveled, but now he looked wild and free.

The lights flickered and burst back on, banishing the darkness back into the corners. The sudden lighting also brought into stark focus a crowd of guests in their nightclothes, waiting for someone to explain exactly what was going on.

“Oh . . .” That someone was me. “Hello everyone, uhm.” I raised my hands and approached the front desk. “Yes, so—”

“What’s happening?”

“What’s going on?”

“Why did the lights go out?”

“I heard a scream.”

Zee continued to devour Victor, although now Victor was giving back as good as he was getting. The pair of them were tongue wrestling, hands in each other’s hair. Zee’s tail had dived down Victor’s pants.

I cleared my throat. “If I can get everyone’s attention on me?”

Madame Matase frowned. “Adam, what’s going on?”

“It’s just a little thing . . .” I stepped behind the desk next to her. “We’re afflicted by a fae curse that’s making us endure our own private fears because Zee left fake reviews.”

She frowned.

Honestly, it wasn’t anywhere near close to the worst we’d dealt with, but it was unexpected.

“What are you going to do about it?”
