The masked man.
My mind keeps returning to the sound of his voice in the darkness, to the four words I desperately wish my brain would stop repeating.
You would feel me.
By the time the SUV finally slows, I have managed to distract myself by counting traffic lights, and when I look up again, I realize we are parked outside my apartment building. Davide gets out and opens the door for me.
“I’m guessing there’s no point asking how you know where I live,” I say as I climb out.
He gives me nothing except a shrug before closing the door, returning to the driver’s seat, and pulling away from the curb without another word.
I stand there for a few seconds watching the SUV disappear down the street before walking to our front door and remember that my keys are still inside my bag at the club, so I knock.
Dylan opens the door and the moment he sees me, his entire face lights up. “I’m so jealous of you right now,” he says, as he steps aside and eaves me into our apartment. “Alex is back, Stacy,” he calls.
“What could you possibly be jealous of?” I ask as I walk past him.
“Logan said you participated in the hunt,” he says, closing the door behind us. “Was it fun?”
Before I can answer, Stacy walks into the room with Logan, who’s looking half asleep, his hair flattened on one side and his eyes barely open until he sees me.
“Oh my God, Alex. Who caught you?” They both ask at once.
I ignore the question because I have a more important one. “When did you guys get back home?”
“I didn’t get caught, but I worked the night shift and got home this morning,” Stacy says.
“Not so long ago,” Logan says through a yawn. “I thought you were still getting dicked down and couldn’t wait to hear all about it.”
My eyes widen. “Is that what happened to you?”
“Don’t sound so shocked. You already know I’m a whore,” he says with a laugh. “But let me tell you, I’ve never had someone fuck me that good. I’ve been giving it up to men with mediocre cocks.”
Dylan is practically bouncing beside us. “I regret not going with you. I deserve to be fucked too,” he says. “Next time, I’m trying harder to get time off work.” Then he turns to me. “Now, spill.”
I drop onto our rickety couch, which gives a familiar creak. They crowd closer while I explain what happened quickly. By the time I finish, they are both staring at me with their mouths wide open.
“You’re sure he didn’t fuck you?” Dylan asks.
Before I can answer, Logan waves a hand dismissively. “His little virgin hole would know if he got fucked.”
My face heats and the masked man’s voice comes back into my head.
You would feel me.
They start throwing theories at each other, trying to decide who the man could be. Normally, I would be listening to every word they say, but their voices turn into background noise while my mind travels somewhere else entirely.
Despite everything that happened, I want to see him again.

ALEX
Professor Campbell summoning me into his office adds to my existing reasons to freak out.
I haven’t seen the masked man since Saturday afternoon, when Davide dropped me back at my apartment, although Davide himself appeared again yesterday with a brand-new phone that already contained everything from my old one.
