Breathing a sigh of relief, I lower back onto bed. “Why do you care so much about who I see?”

“I only want you seeing me. I thought that was fairly clear by this conversation.”

“I don’t even get to see you.” The truth rolls from my stupid lips, much too easily.

“Is that what you want? You want to see me, Patience?”

Yes.

“No.”

He lets out a deep laugh, which reverberates through my body. The butterflies make their way to my pussy. A fluttering resting there as his voice slowly quiets.

“You will. I promise…and you’ll have no use for anyone else. Now, light switch.”

I groan at the ridiculous demand. Pain sears across the soles of my feet as I wiggle my toes. Every nerve has been set alight from the torture they endured this evening. They’ve suffered in silence. They deserve amnesty.

“No. My feet hurt…and that’s ridiculous.”

“I don’t know if you’re safe. There’s a plethora of scenarios in which this could be a farce.”

The whimsy in his voice has my lips tugging into a smile.

“Fine.” My feet hit the floor, causing me to wince. Getting to the light switch, I flick it on and off as quickly as I can. I’m sure it looks like I have a strobe light in the bedroom. I may have been mildly aggressive with the switch, as the switch plate falls to the ground. “There. Happy now?”

“Three times was sufficient. It’s okay. I know you’re still learning.” The line goes silent for a long moment. Snapping off branches through the phone lets me know he’s still on the line, listening.

“Ethan?”

His deep, gravelly voice rattles a laugh in my ear.

“Say that again?” I walk to the window and pull up the blinds. I check the length of the street. My house sits at the top of a hill on a bend in the road, allowing me a clear view of the surroundings.

“Ethan?”

He hums, sending my pussy quivering.

“Can you see me?”

“Yes…and you’re breathtaking.”

My cheeks burn at his words. A sinking feeling hits me when I can’t find him in the shadows.

“Will you come where I can see you? Please?” My voice drops to a whisper.

“Close your eyes.”

“Seriously?”

“Yes, seriously. It’s a perfect spot. You haven’t seen me here for months. I’m not giving out trade secrets, madam. No peeking!”

Months. He’s been out there for months. How silly of me. I should have been more thoughtful.

My eyes narrow, scrutinizing the shadows once more, but find nothing.

“Close them.”

Jesus Christ.
