I glance helplessly in the direction of my friends. Veronica’s eyes are so wide, I can see the whites from here.

“When would this hypothetical thing happen?”

“Soon, hopefully.” Phillip’s phone buzzes. He checks it and sighs. “I have to go, but we should have lunch soon.”

He walks away before I can say anything else, leaving me in the middle of the lobby with my mouth open and very confused thoughts running through my brain. Veronica and Dani appear on either side of me.

“Well,” Veronica says.

“I guess you’d be good at it,” Dani says.

I cover my face with both hands. “What does that even mean?”

“I don’t know,” Dani says. “But that man is flirting with you.”

“Oh, absolutely,” Veronica agrees.

I lower my hands and watch Phillip disappear into the elevator. The doors close behind him.

“The reversal is not working fast enough, babe.” Dani takes an enormous sip of her iced coffee. She pats my shoulder. “Thoughts and prayers, I guess.”

I glare at her, then look at the time.

“Shit. My forecast.”

And just like that, the universe goes back to ruining my life in multiple departments at once.

First of all I would like to formally report that the reversal does not appear to be reversing

Then when I asked what he meant he said he couldn’t tell me but really I’m not interested in dick! I don’t know how to professionally tell this man that I’m a solid fucking six on the Kinsey Scale and that I only like women

I’m flattered but the aforementioned dick is not something I find appealing in the least
