“Love you.” Lydia darted forward to kiss her. “And, later,” she said, patting Zann’s chest before pressing firmly against it to force her to take a step back, “I’ll show you just how much. But, for now, I’m afraid we really do need to get going soon if we’re going to make it back on time.”

“I know.” Zann shook her head ruefully. “Not gonna lie, I would resent this whole thing if it wasn’t the entire reason we met.”

Lydia inclined her head in agreement as she said, “But it is, so…”

“Yeah.” Zann sighed and looked around the room. Everything that she thought she might need was pretty much ready to go. “Can you start bringing some of the flash stuff down to the truck? The keys are on a hook in the laundry room, and once you pop the hatch, you’ll be able to slide it all under the bed cover. I just need to throw a few extra memory cards in the camera case, and then I’ll bring it and the drone out, and then I can make another trip for whatever’s left.”

Lydia nodded. “Anything else?”

“Not that I can think of.”

“Okay. Well, then, I’ll just do this—” Lydia grabbed Zann by the collar and drew her in for a kiss, and laughed when she playfully pushed her away. “And now I’ll go start putting stuff in the car.”

Zann pouted and batted her lashes. “But what if I want another kiss?”

Lydia groaned. “Okay. Yeah. I deserve that, but no. No time.”

“You sure?” Zann teased.

“God, no.” Lydia winked. “But that’s all we have time for right now, unfortunately. So, chop, chop, Silva. You know we’ll never hear the end of it if we’re late.”

Unwilling to let the moment end just yet, Zann quipped, “I think the fact that I’m saving their ass would buy us at least a little grace.”

Lydia arched a brow. “I was talking about Kit and company.”

“Okay, yeah.” Zann ducked her head in defeat. “Good point.”

“I know.” Lydia blew her a kiss as she knelt to gather the equipment she’d collected. Once she had it all in hand, she straightened and said, “I’ll see you down there.”

“I’ll be right behind you,” Zann promised.

Without Lydia to distract her, Zann grabbed a couple of memory cards from the stash in her desk drawer and tossed them into the hardshell, briefcase-style camera case that she’d chosen because it had room for her trusty Nikon as well as three different lenses—which was honestly most likely two more than she’d actually need. But she’d learned early in her career that it was always better to be over-prepared than under. As she was walking out the door, she detoured to the closet to grab the heavy-duty waist-belt holster that would allow her to go hands-free if she needed to adjust anything without worrying about where she’d put her camera, and then, after one last look around the room to make sure no other “needs” jumped out at her, she grabbed the case with her drone and walked out the door.

Lydia was leaning against the open tailgate, looking at something on her phone when she made it out to the driveway, and she smiled at her as she set the cases into the molded bump-outs in the bed-liner that she’d had custom-made to hold her gear. “Everything okay?”

“Yeah, Karen just had a question about something,” Lydia said, pocketing her phone as she moved out of the way. She looked from the equipment in the bed of the truck to the house and asked, “Is there anything else?”

“Nope.” Zann slammed the tailgate closed. “We’re good to go.”

“Great.” Lydia headed for the passenger door. “Any chance we can swing by a drive-thru to grab something to eat?”

Zann caught her eye over the back of the truck as she teased, “What, you didn’t eat enough earlier?”

Lydia laughed and shook her head. “Darling, while I will never have my fill of you, a woman can’t survive on pussy alone.”

Zann smirked. “I hate that for us.”

“Me too,” Lydia agreed, her eyes sparkling with amusement as she climbed into the truck.

Zann chuckled and climbed behind the wheel. She hit the ignition on autopilot, and then froze when an idea came to her as she went to close the garage door. She didn’t know what had made her think about it, but now that she had…

“I’ll be right back,” Zann said as she left the car idling in the driveway and sprinted back inside.

She bolted up the stairs two at a time to her bedroom, and her stomach fluttered at the rumpled state of her sheets as she yanked open the middle drawer of her nightstand and grabbed what she needed. They’d been so wrapped up in their emotions earlier that she’d completely forgotten about it—and, honestly, earlier hadn’t been the time, but they still had a little over a day left together, and…

Well, better to have it and not need it, than want it and not have it—right?

She nodded to herself as she quickly fit her preferred dildo into the O-ring at the front of the black, garment-leather harness, and though she felt a little ridiculous bombing down the stairs with it swinging somewhat wildly from her hand, she didn’t feel nearly silly enough to leave it behind as she jogged through the laundry room door to the garage and out to where Lydia was waiting for her in the car. She grinned at the bark of laughter Lydia let out when she recognized just what it was she’d gone back for, and arched a brow as she held the black leather harness out to her with a playfully casual, “Thought we might want this,” as she hopped back behind the wheel.
