“Yeah, Bon Bon!” Michael cheered when, with a huff and an I can’t believe I’m doing this shake of her head, Bonnie joined in.
When the song ended, Imani held up the camera and yelled, “I think we’ve got it, y’all. That was fucking incredible!”
Zann broke away from Michael and the others to jog over to her phone and turn off the music. She arched a brow at the time on the screen and said, “T-minus thirty minutes until showtime! Head on back up to the room so you can do your touch-ups before we need to start lining up.”
“Oh my god, I’m tired,” Eve laughed as she sagged against Lydia, both of them adorably pink-cheeked and winded. Her eyes shone with joy. “Zee, that was so much fun. Thank you.”
Zann smiled and ducked her shoulders in a little bow. “All part of the service, my dear.” She winked at Eve as she straightened. “Now, get out of here. I’ll see you at the ceremony.”
“Hell yeah!” Michael cheered. “Eve’s getting married, bitches!”
Zann laughed as Shannon, Bonnie, and Lydia echoed his enthusiasm, and made her way over to where Imani was standing. “Get good stuff?”
“So much,” Imani assured her. “That was fantastic.”
“Sweet. I can’t—” Zann was interrupted by the feeling of Lydia’s body brushing against her, and her stomach fluttered as thin, agile fingers tangled briefly with hers. “Hey…”
“Hey.” Lydia smiled and tugged lightly on her hand. “See you up there?”
Zann raked her lower lip between her teeth as she resisted the urge to lean in and kiss her. She lost that battle when Lydia lifted her chin, her plump lips parted invitingly, and groaned as she surrendered to the moment and kissed her softly. “Yeah,” she exhaled as they broke apart. “I’ll see you up there.”
“Can’t wait,” Lydia murmured, her voice silky smooth and shadowed with suggestion.
Zann whimpered when Lydia pressed forward to kiss her one last time, slow and sweet but definitely firm enough that she’d need to reapply her lipstick, and her eyes rolled back in her head when Lydia’s other hand cupped her cheek as she licked lightly at her lips. “God, Lyds…”
Lydia chuckled and kissed her one more time before, with a gentle squeeze of her hand, she pulled away. Zann blinked her eyes open just in time to see Lydia throw a cheeky grin at Imani as she said, sounding far more controlled than Zann felt, “Make sure she gets there okay, yeah?”
“Just as soon as her brain comes back online,” Imani promised.
Zann groaned. “I hate you both.”
“No, you don’t,” Imani retorted. She scoffed when Zann hummed grudgingly as she hooked an arm through hers and dragged her forward. “Now, come on. While that color looks great on Wikipedia, it doesn’t really suit you.”
“Is it really that bad?” Zann asked, wiping at her lips.
“No,” Imani assured her. “And that got it off, so don’t worry. It’s honestly fucking adorable. But the Border Collies will have a field day tearing your smitten kitten ass to shreds if they see it, so… Move it, sexy.”
Zann nodded and allowed Imani to steer her back toward the main building of the resort, where Aspen and the others were hanging out. On any other day, she’d have resisted, just a little, just out of spite, but Lydia was already a good thirty feet ahead, and although she wouldn’t be able to really see her again until they were lining up, there were worse ways to bide the time between now and then than drinking in the way Lydia looked in her dress.
Because, good lord, did she wear it well.
The cut wasn’t anything particularly special—it was just a simple A-line with a modest square neck that tiptoed the line between flirty and reserved—but the way it clung to Lydia’s waist and flowed like water over her hips and ass to ripple around her long, luscious legs as she walked was downright sinful. She couldn’t wait to get Lydia back to their room to lavish kisses on her neck and shoulders as she slowly unzipped her before lovingly pushing the straps from her shoulders so the dress puddled at her feet. She’d—
“Put your tongue back in your mouth before you step on it,” Imani sniggered, snapping her out of her thoughts.
“Oh, fuck off,” Zann muttered. “Like you wouldn’t be ogling the shit out of Yas if she was dressed like that.”
“Sweetie, I ogle the shit out of my wife constantly; it doesn’t matter what she’s wearing.”
“And yet you’re giving me a hard time for doing the same thing?”
“Yes. Because you have finally fallen for a woman, and I am fucking living for it.”
Zann laughed. She couldn’t even pretend to argue that one. “Whatever.” She reached across Imani for her camera. “Lemme see what you got.”
“You’ll see it when you’re editing it all,” Imani retorted, moving the camera out of her reach. “You’re gonna go live it up as a groomsman for the next couple of hours.”
“I can do both.” Zann reached for the camera again. It wasn’t that she didn’t trust Imani; she just really wanted to see if the dancing photos turned out like she’d hoped they would.
