He keeps walking.
“Two bedrooms?”
Roman stops and turns. “Why the fuck are you asking about bedrooms?”
I grin. “Just narrowing things down.”
“Stop it.”
“Garage?”
“Callie.”
“Furnished?”
His jaw flexes.
My eyes widen. “Oh my God. It's furnished.”
“I didn't say that.”
“You didn't have to.”
He starts walking again.
I smile as I follow him. This is fun.
Roman pulls out his keys. “Stop following me.”
“No.”
He keeps moving, crossing the street.
Then he stops by a black truck.
“Will I see you again?” The question leaves before I can stop it.
He goes still.
This isn't funny anymore.
Fourteen days ago, I woke up, and he was gone. Today he walked back into my life.
I don't know what that means. But I know what I want it to mean.
Roman studies me for a long moment. “Yes.”
Something in my chest loosens. “You promise?”
His eyes stay on mine. “Yes.”
I smile softly. “Okay.”
