I point at him. “Keep it that way.”
I follow Callie inside.
Alibi, no longer on a leash, launches himself at me like he didn’t just see me two seconds ago.
I barely catch the furry asshole before he starts licking my jaw.
Behind me, there’s only silence.
Slowly, I look over my shoulder. Beck is staring at me.
“Don't.”
His lips twitch.
“Don't fucking do it.”
“I didn't say anything.”
“See. We have a dog.” Callie points.
“She has a dog.”
“Yeah, really looks like she does,” Beck says, laughing.
I look down. Both of my arms are wrapped around Alibi.
Fuck.
I put him on the floor. He immediately sits on my foot.
Beck looks down, then back at me. “And you’re trying to claim it’s her dog.”
“He is.”
“Our dog,” Callie corrects.
“Her dog.”
Alibi leans against my leg.
Beck nods slowly. “Right.”
“Fuck you.”
“I didn't say anything.”
“You don't have to.”
Callie takes the Bramble bag from me.
Beck's attention shifts to it. “What'd you get?”
“Coffee.”
Callie smiles. “And mugs.”
I glare at her.
