“She hates the campaign.”

I stare through the windshield. “The campaign she approved?”

“That would be the one.”

“The campaign she made us change four times before she approved it?”

“Also the one.”

I close my eyes. “I'm going to become a florist.”

“You kill every plant you touch.”

“Dog groomer.”

“Yeah, right?” Violet laughs harder. “You’d become frustrated and lose it your first day.”

“True. Accountant?”

Roman looks at me. “No.”

I turn toward him. “Excuse me?”

“You'd hate it.”

Smoke laughs from the back seat.

I point at Roman. “Stay out of my imaginary career change.”

Violet is laughing now too.

“Anyway,” she says, “Marissa wants to meet.”

“Tell her no.”

“I did.”

“Good.”

“She's already on her way.”

“What?”

“She wants to sit down with both of us and go through everything.”

“Today?”

“Yes.”

“Right now?”

“Pretty much.”

I look at the clock on the dash. “Where?”
