She lifts the drink carrier. “And hot coffee. Black.”

Roman stands.

Gracie hands it to him. “Yours.”

He looks at the cup, then at Gracie. “Thanks.”

She blinks, then slowly turns toward me. “He said thank you.”

“I heard. Must be my influence.”

“Fuck off.”

I laugh.

Gracie comes closer and gently squeezes my foot through the blanket. “I heard you kicked his ass.”

“Which time?”

Roman's head drops.

Gracie stares at me. “There's more than one?”

“I was very busy.”

“Then you certainly deserve this.” She hands me a coffee.

“Have I told you I love you?”

Before she can answer, the door opens again.

At this point, I'm expecting the entire town.

Presley steps in. Hades is directly behind her.

She takes one look at me. “Oh, Callie.”

“Don't cry.”

“I'm not.” Her eyes immediately fill with moisture.

“Liar.”

She comes over and carefully hugs me.

Hades stays a few feet back.

His gaze goes to Roman. Roman looks at him. Something passes between them. Something silent and male and vaguely threatening.

I point between them. “No.”

Both men look at me.
