“Anyone else know where it was?”
“No.”
“Where was it?”
Smoke studies me for a second. “Safe-deposit box. Different town.”
I nod.
Smart.
Smoke reaches forward and picks up the plastic case. He looks at it for a moment, then at me.
This isn't about the drive anymore.
His eyes move to Callie. She's curled beneath the blanket with bruises on her face and wrists, Alibi against her side, my shirt hanging off one shoulder.
Then he looks back at me. “You're staying?”
The question catches me off guard.
Callie remains quiet.
I don't look at her. “Yes.”
Smoke studies my face. “For how long?”
I know what he's asking.
I look at Callie. She's watching me.
“For as long as she'll have me.”
Her expression softens.
Fuck.
Smoke grabs the case and holds it out.
I look down at it. “You sure?”
“Yeah.”
I take it and open it. A small black flash drive sits inside.
The thing Mercer was willing to kill for.
The thing he chased Smoke for.
The thing he kidnapped Callie to get.
“Give it to Bishop.”
“I will.”
“And whatever's on it—”
“We'll handle it.”
