"Rarely."
"Person?"
Nyra thinks. "Possible. Titles were sometimes translated that way." So. Nothing. Wonderful.
Caelen pulls a chair out. "What happened to the term after the conflict?"
"We don't know."
"Maybe it changed." Rhyven says. I look toward him.
He shrugs once. "Terminology changes."
Nyra nods. "I thought of that."
"And?"
"I searched modern ward records for central source, core structure, primary reservoir, foundational structure, anything equivalent."
"Nothing?"
"Nothing that clearly matches."
Rhyven looks at the papers again. Not convinced. Not dismissive either.
Cassian picks up the ceremonial record. "Blessings for Varethia and its Heart." He looks at us. "That sounds religious."
"Maybe." Nyra says.
"The lower passage doesn't." I add.
"Unless it's a temple." Caelen says.
"Or tomb." Cassian contributes. We all look at him. "What?" He pulls the blanket tighter. "Old people love tombs." Unfortunately true.
Rhyven moves around the table. Stops beside me.
Leans over the document. His arm brushes mine.
Barely. My body notices. Traitor. He points toward the wording. "'Disturbances reported near the Heart.'"
"Yes." I say.
"Not from." Nyra looks up.
"What?"
Rhyven taps the page. "It doesn't say the Heart caused the instability." Silence. He's right. Damn.
"It says instability surrounding it." Caelen says.
"Could be anything." Rhyven straightens.
"Exactly." Nyra looks deeply offended by responsible interpretation.
"So we have nothing." Cassian says.
"We have a phrase." Nyra corrects.
