His mouth comes down over mine while his tongue slips past my lips, his hand at my throat. He kisses me until the heat between my thighs pulses, and my nipples peak.

Then he pulls away and places the first document in my hand.

“What’s this?” I ask, scanning the heading, then the legal description beneath it.

My heart pounds faster as I recognize the boundaries.

The land Alasdair Harrington stole from my family after my da’s murder. The same land Saint kidnapped Keira for.

My forehead creases, and my lips move as I read to myself, taking in every word on the page until I whisper the name printed beneath the trust beneficiaries.

Keira Harrington.

Alasdair Harrington.

Sera Harrington.

I read it again.

Heat rises through my chest, spreading like a wildfire that quickly turns cruel and savage.

"You expect me to marry ya to get our land back?"

"No,” he says. "Read the next one."

“So, you’ve decided ya want me, assumed I’d want the god awful Harrington name, and you'd hand me the land like it’s yours to give?”

He removes the page from my fingers and gives me another.

“How about you look at this one?”

The hurt of his expectation has my hands shaking. And now, reading the next document, my eyes jump straight to the names at the bottom.

Sera Tallon-Harrington.

I let out a short laugh and shove it at him. “Seriously, Fionn?”

He takes the page from and returns it to the folder.

“I thought you understood,” I say, trying to get to my feet. “I thought I meant something to ya, but you expect me to take that name by waving that land in front of my face. When I agree to marry someone, it won’t be because they bribed me.”

Fionn comes around me and lowers himself before me until we’re face to face.

The city remains beyond him, the outline of his body glowing in the sunrise.

He places a third page into my hands.

“Sera, I don’t expect you to marry me.”

My throat tightens.

“I want you to marry me.”

He taps one finger against the document.

“Read this one.”

I look down, my eyes passing over the legal language until they find the beneficiaries again.
