I grew up alone.

I finish filling out the paperwork and turn it in at the counter. Grabbing the note out of my pocket, I smile as I cross off the last thing on my to-do list and head for the door.

“Are you still leaving today?” Julian calls when I step out of the post office.

“Yeah. I’m just finalizing the last few things,” I tell him.

“Good luck, man. I hope you find her.”

“Me too.”

Julian claps me on the shoulder, grinning as he turns and heads off.

“Call if you need anything!” he says over his shoulder before he disappears into the Night Grove Falls Market.
