Echo wasn’t pleased to see me pop up into the bedroom earlier, but I’m more focused on her owner.
Abby is dressed in black leggings and a thick black and cream sweater dress. Hopefully those leggings are lined. Otherwise, she’s going to be freezing once she steps outside.
“Do you have a coat to go over that?” I ask, wondering if we have an extra pair of gloves and a beanie somewhere.
“Yeah.”
“Okay, good,” I say, chuckling. “Because otherwise, you’d be damn cold.”
She nods and comes into the room, stopping next to Echo, then bends and scratches the dog’s head. “Give me just a minute, and I’ll get you into your harness.” Once she’s done, she stands and holds out a hand. “I’m Abby. It’s nice to meet you.”
“Luka.” I shake. “Law recommended that I manage her leash when we head out to introduce the dogs. Is that okay?”
“Yeah, that’s fine. She has been known to tug me around like I weigh nothing.” She laughs awkwardly and steps over to grab her coat off the hook. It just so happens it was hidden under Lawson’s, which is why I didn’t spot it when I first came in. “When Bryant offered to let me sleep here, he said he cleared it with you.” She spins to face me as she gets herself into her jacket. “He was right. I never would have survived trying to sleep in my car. Thank you for giving me a place to ride out the storm.”
I’m not sure why I’m taken aback by her honesty, but I am.
“No problem,” I say, clearing my throat. “The weather up here is no joke. We all look after each other.”
“Lawson said something similar.” She grabs the leash and harness from on top of the small cabinet that we use as a catch-all for pocket change and our keys. “He also mentioned that I might be able to stay for a bit while I get on my feet. If that’s pushing your kindness too far—”
“It’s not,” I say, shaking my head.
Well, shit.
I’m impressed.
Never in a million years would I have thought Law would have laid the groundwork to get her to stay.
It seems like Bryant and I weren’t needed at all.
It’s surprising.
Most women don’t give Law the time of day.
It’s shitty.
They don’t know what they’re missing out on. He might be a little rough around the edges, but he’ll make a good husband. Our dads taught us about how to look after an omega, and I know Bryant’s family did the same for him.
We just need someone who’s interested in all three of us equally.
I would never be with anyone who pretended to want Law to get to me. Sadly, it has happened before, but Abby was interested in Law before she even met me.
That’s an excellent sign.
Maybe the universe is finally getting around to answering my Christmas prayer.
I’ve had the same one for the last three years. I’m so tired of being alone.
Abby showing up here has to be a Christmas miracle.
Chapter Eleven
Abby
It’s a little overwhelming watching Lawson introduce Shadow and Echo. Their names even kinda feel similar, and I have no idea why it feels like fate.
Okay, I’m turning into a delusional omega. Over here planning a future when they’re just being nice.
