He raised his brows.
She licked her lips, tucking her hands in her back pockets and looking down at the floor. “I travel light.”
Jekyll stepped out into the hallway, and started toward the back door. He didn’t bother checking to see if she was following. He heard her heels click against the wood floor. He pushed open the door. It was the same scene he’d left five minutes ago. When Cue’s gaze scanned over his shoulder, he nodded and walked to his bike.
Jekyll was just past Griggs when he said, “We’ll be in touch.”
He got no response. Jekyll didn’t expect one. This had Griggs seething, but he was smart enough to not risk their deal over a woman.
By the time Jekyll reached his bike, Eden was inches from his back. He pointed to Cue’s bike.
“You’re with him.”
Jekyll had done his part. Eden was now Cue’s sole responsibility.
“Uh…” Her voice shook.
He grabbed his helmet from the handlebars. “You ain’t riding on the back of my bike.” That seat was reserved for only one woman.
“Let’s go,” Cue snapped, offering her the dog. She rushed toward him. She snatched it from his hands so quickly, as though she didn’t trust Cue to pull away. He didn’t.
Cue took her bag, packed it in his saddlebag, and offered her a helmet. Jekyll was impressed how she put it on without ever releasing the dog. Cue straddled his bike and lifted his chin, gesturing for her to get on the back of his bike, but Eden didn’t move.
Jesus fucking Christ!
“Get on the bike,” Jekyll ordered, and her eyes welled.
Fuck me! Jekyll grasped his hips and squared his jaw.
Ghost walked up next to him. “What’s the problem?”
“No problem.” Cue growled and turned to Eden. “Get on my bike.”
Eden shook her head, and spun around. “You don’t have a car?”
What the fuck? Jekyll was losing his patience. Thankfully, Ghost stepped in between them.
“We can get her a car service,” Ghost said.
“No,” Cue said.
“Well, how far is the ride to where we’re dropping her off?”
Cue stared across the lot. “Not dropping her off.”
Ghost shared a look with Jekyll. He wasn’t following his brother’s intentions either.
“Then where are you taking her?” Jekyll asked.
“Killcreek.”
What the fuck? He heard Eden gasp. This was becoming a problem.
“She can’t hold the dog for hours on the back of your bike, Cue,” Ghost said.
Cue hadn’t put much thought into this plan, obviously.
Oak sighed, and his jaw squared. “Might wanna make a call to Ace.”
