Knot My Fate

“If you’re hurt, then it’s lucky that you’re more skilled than a consultant. You can heal yourself.”

I dance my fingers to Paige’s throat across her quick pulse, and it flutters. “Maybe you could check my pulse.”

Her voice comes out higher than she intends, I’m sure. “Reckon a talented Alpha like you can manage that.”

“Sure can, but where’s the fun in that?”

“Just brush my hair, Halo.” Paige laughs.

For several minutes, I follow her command.

I allow myself to sit in the moment, the quiet, drawing it out.

After what Luca said in the bathroom about love, I know that he is as desperate as I am for this Omega to join our pack.

Yet I also know how stubborn Rhett is.

I can’t lie to myself. Paige is the only Omega I want.

She is the only one any of us have built a nest for, and the only one who fits into our difficult, complicated lives.

Yet will Rhett see that?

Will Paige even want to take the risk?

I lean forward, taking a shuddering breath.

I mustn’t think of that.

She chose me for this one day. For a single day, I am hers, and she is mine.

That isn’t enough, but it must be.

I throw down the brush, before I trace the line of Paige’s spine, enjoying how she shivers.

Her shoulders drop.

She’s finally relaxed.

Perfect.

“Lie down.” I lower my voice, bending my neck to follow the journey of my fingers with my tongue.

She shivers again, before lying on her face among the mountain of cushions.

I smooth my palm over the hollow of her back, massaging across her ass. She wriggles, making her delicious globes jiggle.

Then she spreads her legs like an offering.

I lick my lips, holding myself back with difficulty.

My cock fully hardens. But this is about her pleasure, so I ignore what is between my legs.

“On your back, beautiful,” I urge.

When Paige struggles to push herself over, swallowed up in the squashy pillows and feathery quilts, I laugh.

Paige growls, mumbling something that is probably rude.
