Knot My Fate

I laugh. “Say that when we’re done.”

I turn to a door, which has a brass plaque on it, Massage Suite.

“I traveled up yesterday to make sure that the suite was customized. I wanted it to be as calming as possible for my Omega to help them enjoy the touch treatment.” I rock on my heels. I try not to show my nerves. “I even practiced…”

Why is she growling at me?

“No more practicing on other Omegas,” Paige snarls like she is trying but failing to hold back the words.

When she blushes, I smirk.

Is she territorial already?

I put on my most innocent expression and raise three fingers to my head. “Scouts honor.”

Paige gives me a dubious look. “You were never in the scouts.”

“Reckon you’ll just have to keep wondering.”

I shove down the door handle, pushing open the Massage Suite.

The overhead lights are deliberately off, allowing only the warm glow of shaded wall lamps.

A soothing floral and citrus blend of scents that I carefully chose — lavender, bergamot, and orange — wafts from the diffuser in the roof.

Paige wanders past me.

I tilt my head, watching as she takes in the earthy tones of the walls, the potted plants, and padded massage table in the center.

My duffel bag sits underneath the table, where I stashed it yesterday.

Paige’s breathing has slowed.

There.

Her shoulders drop a fraction. I hadn’t realized just how high she had been holding them, until they come down.

She is alert and steady on her feet.

She may be overstimulated, but she is less anxious than she was.

Her next breath is deeper and slower, as she circles the room.

I deliberately stay by the door, leaning against the wall to give her time. The last thing she needs is a large Alpha invading her space until she is ready.

When Paige hops to sit on the therapy table, it is like she is making a deliberate decision. “Come on then. I’m waiting.”

I grin. “Eager.” I falter, however, when I glance down at my stained T-shirt, wrinkling my nose at the smell. “I’m kind of destroying the soothing vibe that I worked hard to set up. Shall I go grab some new clothes to change into? There should be a staff uniform somewhere.”

Paige challengingly meets my eye. “Or you could strip.”

The tips of my ears redden.

But she doesn’t know me; I have never backed down from a challenge in my life.

I meet Paige’s gaze. “Whatever my Omega needs, she gets.”

If she was my bonded Omega, then I would damn well worship her.
