Luca and Rhett exchanged a glance.

“I couldn’t stop thinking about you,” Luca blurted. “The sweet angel who saved my life. I don’t know why but I want you.”

My eyes widened.

I turned on my heel and marched to an empty corridor at the bottom of the waiting room, hoping that they would follow me.

The back of my neck prickled with the awareness of the staff who were watching.

I turned around to the other two Alphas sharply. “What do you want?”

Luca flinched, and Rhett stepped in front of him.

“We would like to take you out for a coffee,” Rhett said. “To start with.”

I shook my head. “I’m working.”

“After your shift,” Luca suggested. “What time?”

“You’re not getting it. This is me telling you…I like you both, but it can’t… Thanks for the card and cake, but no to the coffee.”

“Okay.” Rhett crossed his arms. “Just tell me why. Then we’ll go. I don’t bother someone who ain’t interested.”

“Luca was a patient here. It would be a power imbalance.”

Rhett’s eyes darkened. He leaned his arm on the wall, caging me.
