I just shot water out of my nose, witch. How dare you make me laugh at the same time as I take a drink.

Just living up to the evil you claim I am. Go to bed after you clean up the water.

Get out of your head. Night.
I clicked the button to put my phone to sleep and set it on the night stand. Sighing, I crawled back to lean on my pillows and do my best to shut off my brain. Too much had happened in the last few days and I was a little upset that the mirror seemed normal.
Half of me wanted to text Merrick. He did a lot of peopling and I was worried he overdid it. But then again, I didn’t want to push him too much, either. I needed rest but I decided that I was going to look over the mirror one more time.
I was moving before I realized it, my fingers wrapping around the mirror’s handle and moving it closer to my face to inspect it. There was no hum or glow. It wasn’t even warm under my fingertips.
“Reveal your secrets to me,” I whispered closely to my reflection.
Nothing. So much for the hunch that this was magic or cursed.
Just when I was about to give up, an eerie, purple light swirled under the mirror’s glass and the metal grew hot to the touch. A yelp escaped me as I dropped it.
I was right!
A smile crept over my lips and I picked it up to see what it was about to show me.
At first, it simply swirled, the vibrant light luring me in until it felt like I couldn’t look away. Not that I planned to try. This new mystery had me tied in.
It wasn’t until someone called my name that I truly tried to yank my eyes away. I opened my mouth but no sound came out.
I was completely and utterly under the mirror’s spell.
“The chickens morphed. I need to show you!” A thunder of footsteps echoed out as Rook made his way upstairs to me.
Panic swelled in my chest and I managed to lift a hand, reaching for my alpha in a desperate attempt.
His skin touched mine as if he knew exactly what I wanted. “What’s going on?”
The image shifted then, the swirls of purple magic fading into a living room. It was sparse, but rugged. Clean enough to be cared for.
A handsome alpha stood in the living room looking confused. He had wolf ears that matched his dark hair, glowing, blue eyes, a mouthful of fangs, and a tail that was flickering back and forth with unease.
“Dorian?” Rook’s confused voice was cut off as the alpha jolted back then gripped his chest. His eyes were wide as he looked up, then the mirror went dark. “Dorian!”
“Wait, you know this man?” I gasped as the mirror finally let me go. I was rushing after him, barefoot and barely clothed.
“My brother. He’s your neighbor,” he said over his shoulder, though he didn’t stop running. I hated being left behind. My magic hummed under my skin. I wasn’t sure if it was the mirror’s effects or determination, but a burst of speed had me catching up to him as he tore across the spacious yard. My feet were sliding on the cold, wet grass.
The house was silent as we burst through the door. Rook kicked it in barely missing a beat and I was right on his heels.
“Dorian!”
“What?” an annoyed voice called out, a little rough around the edges, before the man in the mirror stepped around the corner. HIs eyebrows rose as he took in the sight of Rook and I standing in his doorway, chests heaving, eyes likely wild.
“I saw you die,” I blurted out, only making his eyebrows disappear into his fluffy hair.
“Excuse me?”
