He nods and says, “For us. I only ever had Lo and Maria over, so my lack of a living room didn’t matter.”
“Another room to christen,” I declare, and cover him with my body. Cupping his face, giving him space to talk about it. “Are you really okay? From earlier?”
“Yeah. O’Keefe was trying to help, and I freaked out.”
“You don’t scream for no reason.” I scan his face for clues, hoping mind reading becomes my newest skill. I replay the situations where people touching him made him uncomfortable. The idea that someone hurt him takes hold and shakes me up.
“Today I did.” His lips turn up, but he can’t manage a smile. “I was on edge from the reporter, and I’m jumpy when strangers touch me. O’Keefe pulled my arm from behind to get me away from her, but it happened so fast, and I didn’t register it was him, and my lungs decided to bellow before my brain got involved.” Sky runs his fingers through my stubble.
“Are you sure that’s it?” I ask carefully.
“O’Keefe might not be my friend, but he would never hurt me. That’s a fact.” He tilts his head to kiss my lips. “Sorry if I scared you.”
It’s impossible to be what he needs when shadows from the past haunt him.
“I need to feel you’re real,” I blurt out, hugging him close, daring any darkness to touch us now. I’d give up hockey to create a tether to bind us together. Forever.
“Last I checked, I’m a real boy with working parts.” He laughs, and I duck my head. “Mav, talk to me.”
“Don’t worry. You’re perfect.” I open my eyes to kiss him.
“That’s a damn lie.” He giggles, and my jaw drops. “What? I’m far from perfect. You know it.”
“You’re brave enough to go after what makes you happy. I admire that.” I heft him on top of me to bear his weight. My legs hang over the arm rest, and he snuggles into me.
Sky kisses me reverently, exploring my mouth as if it’s the first time. I could spend my entire life kissing him and not get enough.
“Do you trust me?” he asks with lust-filled eyes.
“Of course!” I pant.
“Then we should christen this room. Break it in and all, doncha think?” His hand wedges between us to cup my balls.
“There’s no situation in which I’d ever say no,” I say, chasing his lips for another kiss. “Do whatever you want.” It’s tempting to put my arms behind my head in a gesture of submission.
“I’m starving.” He takes one of my hands and sucks my fingers. “Craving cake actually.”
My body flushes with heat as my blood cools, caught between nerves and desire. Sky is the only one I trust with the intimate parts of me.
“You stiffened.” He removes my shirt and kisses along the column of my neck. “We can do something else.” Sky looks at me from under his lashes, and I’m certain he’ll take care of me.
“I’m all yours, Angel.” And I am. “Even with that evil glint in your eyes.”
Sky laughs, orders me to stand, then wrestles me out of my pants and underwear. Soon I’m kneeling on the sofa, facing the back cushions.
“Clothes are so unnecessary.” Sky kisses one cheek and then the other.
“Totally,” I agree. A shiver releases some of my tension.
“Have I told you I dream about your ass?” His tongue runs down my spine, and his hands cradle my hips. “So meaty. More than my handful, begging…no, aching to be touched.”
My brain cells have left the building, and I nod, managing an incoherent moan.
“Has anyone else ever touched you here?” Sky’s hand parts my cheeks while his index finger trails my crack until it finds my hole.
I’m trembling with anticipation and squeak out, “No.”
“You saved this for me?” The pad of his finger circles my rim.
