“We both need to do homework.”
I gaped at him. He wanted us to do homework while we were both sporting boners? What the hell? I didn’t want to do that. I wanted to suck Jaxon off while jerking myself.
He laughed, cupping my face and giving me a loud, smacking kiss. “You probably need to shower, and we both need to do homework.”
I stuck out my lower lip, which just made Jaxon laugh harder. The sound stole a smile from me. I couldn’t help it. His humor was infectious. He said, “You make it hard for me to ever say no to you.”
“You say that like it’s a bad thing.”
Jaxon chuckled, then pressed a gentle kiss to my forehead. “It’s not.”
“Good.” I rubbed my nose on his, taking a deep inhale of his scent, before I gave a loud sigh and pushed off his lap. “Fine, we’ll be responsible.”
“Monster god forbid.”
I grabbed my bag that I’d dropped next to the door and set it on my bed. Everything was basically dirty, so I chucked it all into my hamper. Most of my clothes made it. Unpacked, I grabbed some clean clothes to head to the bathroom for a shower. Jaxon snagged me around the waist.
“What?” I asked, my dick perking back up. Hey, I wouldn’t say no if he were suddenly in the mood.
“What’s this?” His voice was a low growl and his touch tender as he skimmed the scrapes on my elbow. “Did you get hurt playing?”
“Oh.” I glanced at it. “No. I crashed into Tate trying to get to you faster.”
Jaxon smiled; it was something soft and warm. “You are so cute.”
I flushed.
Looking up at me, he said, “I forgot to ask how your game was.”
I plopped onto his lap. I wasn’t going to have this conversation while I stood here awkwardly. Leaning back into him, I replied, “It was fantastic. Henry got hurt.”
He sputtered, and I blushed.
“Fuck, that’s not why it was good. I never want one of my team members to get hurt. I swear.”
“That’s not what it sounds like.”
I shot him a glare over my shoulder.
“I’m teasing.” Jaxon placed a kiss on my shoulder.
“Well, he got hurt, so I actually got to play. It was so exciting. Henry should be fine by the next game, but I’m still ecstatic I got to play for a bit.” I looked at him. “I even scored.”
“Good job, baby.”
I beamed, though it dimmed after a moment. “It was all great.”
“Then why are you making that face?”
My teeth sank into my lower lip as I debated whether telling him the truth was wise or not. In the end, the thought of lying to Jaxon made my decision for me. Hopefully, he wouldn’t find me too needy. Averting my gaze, I answered, “I missed you. A lot. I spent most of my time thinking about you. I didn’t like being away from you.”
With a gentle nudge, Jaxon turned my chin toward him, and our gazes met once more. Leaning forward, he slotted his lips to mine. From our positions, it was not the easiest to kiss him, but I melted into him with a moan. Every touch was just so damn perfect. I couldn’t have pictured this only a couple of months ago, and now, I was having a hard time imagining my life without it.
He stroked my cheek and muttered against my lips, “I missed you so much it hurt.”
Jesus. How did he spout some of the most romantic things at the drop of a hat? I was an avid romance reader. I was the romantic soul—or so I’d thought—but I had nothing on Jaxon. I pressed my lips to his once more in a slow, gentle kiss. “Same, big guy. I think we should just stay right by each other.”
“I agree.”
