“Sometimes the people of Earth stop processing thoughts clearly when they are startled. There are several words for it, but those are the symptoms he is exhibiting.” I could learn to deal with them correctly. “He spoke to you and you have shown protective instincts.”
Possibly too protective, but if Shiloh was designated as a submissive, the taller male was just following his role in a way I could not understand.
The eye-roll behavior was something I recognized but I didn’t grasp the meaning right away. “That’s logical but this is…”
It was what?
Shiloh shifted and somehow projected more emotion that I couldn’t define. “I must ask if you are a submissive so that I can accurately respond to your signals.”
He blinked as well.
The people of Earth did that a lot.
His head bobbed in the nod movement that signaled agreement. “Thank you for making that clear.”
I turned toward the frowning man. “See? I obtained information and was correct.”
His long exhale was confusing because it seemed like there could be several reasons for it. “You’re too focused on the details. Look at the bigger picture and then try this interaction again.”
It was my turn to do the blinking in confusion behavior, but I performed it well.
The man from Earth turned to Raxius. “You too. Please show me some of you have common sense. At this point, the diner idiots are smarter.”
Diner idiots?
Oh.
I did not have enough context to fully understand the frustrated-sounding words, so I ignored them and turned to Raxius. He was still focused on Shiloh as he also ignored everyone else.
Why was he focused on Shiloh?
The young male was now looking back and forth between us with a strange expression on his face, and after a few seconds, he made another squeak.
“Fates above.” The tall male began shaking his head. “Show him you’re smarter than this.”
Show him?
Show who?
Shiloh.
The grumpy man moved to stand behind Shiloh and performed some kind of strong expression I could not immediately find the wording to describe.
“I’m never going to get back to work.” Raxius had a good command of English but his poor choice of wording got another sound from Shiloh.
“Do not respond to him when he…pouts. Yes. That is the English word. He likes working and dislikes other obligations.” The male Shiloh made another odd noise I couldn’t describe but it was not a happy one.
He was very sad.
“Please do not be sad.” Strong, confusing emotions radiated from the young male from Earth. “His manners are always lacking, so we cannot let them make us sad.”
Sad?
How did I know he was sad?
I knew he was sad.
Oh.
