Yes…drunk squirrels may be the right comparison.

Raxius performed rolling his eyes and sighed because he liked how he did those movements. “I thought those stories were tales to scare children. We have spells to stop aging and to change the mind?”

Yes.

We gave language to others…that was also changing the mind.

“Well, slow aging.” I had never realized I was seeing it in person…which was probably another of the forbidden spells. “And spells to cloud people’s memories.”

Baldron grinned.

Now I could understand why I had not questioned anything about the ancient dragon. But as I looked at Shiloh, his hands came up in a defensive posture. “I didn’t use that on you. We just don’t talk about it. Honest.”

That was good to know.

“What is it that you don’t talk about, my Earthling?” Raxius used a firm, low voice that made Shiloh want to squirm.

It took several moments for him to stop shifting and to control his mental pouts, but eventually Shiloh sighed. “Um, well, there were seers that were trapped with us. Nearly all that were left. So they made my family keepers of well…our lineage. They knew how much we would lose, so the first-born child of each generation was the one who kept track of our stories and the different lines.”

He made that sound so easy.

Raxius was even starting to relax.

No.

No.

No.

So I did the only logical act…I stomped my foot and politely explained there was a problem with the information being given.

“Ask him how that spell works.” My word had Shiloh groaning and hunching over as he rubbed his face. “Ask him, Raxius. Ask him.”

“This is going to be interesting if you’re being tattled on, my Earthling.” Raxius shook his head and crossed his arms over his chest. “The full truth this time or Zorin’s head is going to explode like in one of those Earth shows Klynn was trying to explain.”

I was not a tune that was crazy.

I was a worried Daddy and they were allowed to be anxious and tattle…Agent Murphy said so…just in more boring Earth wording.

My mates were very fortunate I was not boring.

Chapter 20

Raxius

Zorin was very close to what the Earthlings called pitching a fit. His questionable behavior was not appropriate but it was also not as bad as it was going to get if I was reading his feelings correctly.

My highly intelligent mate was also highly frustrated at the moment.

Shiloh continued to groan as Baldron chuckled. He was not feeling bad about the chaos he may have created. Somehow. When Zorin was ready to do another round of his performance, Shiloh sighed and straightened. “Okay, what…well, what our mate wants me to explain is the basics of how the spell works.”

The appropriate English word was duh, but it was not polite, so I kept that to myself.

“Then let us start there.” It was very hard to be the only adult in difficult situations. “Because our very smart mate is also very upset.”

Shiloh couldn’t seem to decide if he wanted to perform more theatrics or pout, but he did his best to take a deep breath and do what the English-speaking people called charging right in. “Well, what he’s upset about is that the spell uses my own magic to fuel the…the task. Most of my innate magic is channeled into remembering anything I’m told or that I read about our history.”

How?
