“For four weeks, Belladonna has been planning this. That girl put a lot of effort in; I mean, look at the clubhouse—it looks wonderful,” Gamma remarked, pointing around. “All you have done is complain and whine. You’re very ungrateful.”
We were adults, but somehow Gamma made us feel like kids again. I could see it on my sisters’ faces.
“And not just Belladonna—Blue, Hayden, and Brielle helped. You spat on their efforts. Would it have hurt you all to relax and have some fun? I’m ashamed of you all,” Gamma said. “Belladonna paid extra for you to have the last two slots tonight so nobody would rush you through.”
Now I felt bad. Belladonna hadn’t asked for much, and Gamma was right. We had shit on her and the others. We all felt awful. I sighed. Christ, this had backfired big time.
“Sapphire, we should go. Belladonna worked hard on this, and she was genuinely upset,” Heart said.
“It won’t hurt, and we might enjoy it,” Blade added, although she didn’t seem confident about that.
“I’ll apologise. Everybody, get ready; we’re all going,” I ordered.
Then I headed upstairs. We were being miserable about this. Belladonna, in contrast, had been full of excitement. She’d told everyone about the themed food, and the prospects had been practising making some cool-looking cocktails. Fume had ended up drunk each night through trialling them.
“Go away, Sapphire,” Belladonna yelled through her door. Trust her to have heard me coming.
“We’re sorry, Bels,” I called her by a nickname I hadn’t used in years.
“Don’t care. Go snuggle with your boo,” Belladonna sneered. Yup, my girl was pissed.
“Come on, we have been miserable cunts lately, and three-quarters of us can’t even blame our periods,” I said, leaning my head on the door.
“Get screwed,” Belladonna retorted, and I hid a grin. That had been my intention, but Belladonna’s happiness came before getting laid. Hayden might not agree, though.
“Bels, come on, we’re all waiting, and we’ll put some work in,” I replied and winced. That was the wrong thing to say.
“If it takes that much effort, don’t bother—”
“Get your ass out here immediately; that’s an order!” I snapped.
Stomping, she flung her door open. She glowered and shoved past me, shutting her door. “Fuck you, I don’t obey you!” she spat, but headed downstairs and straight for her Harley.
“That could have gone better,” Hayden quipped as I headed down after her, and I slapped his stomach. He grinned at me and followed me out to my bike.
Damnit. This was going to be a disaster.

“I hate zombies,” I moaned as we gathered in the parking lot.
“Zombies? Shoot ‘em in the head,” Blade offered helpfully.
“You are not tooled up!” Wylde exclaimed, and we all avoided eye contact.
“You cannot shoot anyone! These are actors!” Hatton announced, and we all shrugged.
“Hell no. Back off, cop! I’m not going in unarmed!” Beside me, Stitch nodded.
“I hate those things that run all on fours at you. They freak me the fuck out; I have a right to defend myself!” Stitch stated.
“Stitch,” Hatton growled.
“Hatton,” Stitch replied.
“Tink.” Someone dragged me into it, and I glanced up. “What? I thought we were saying names,” Teddy Bauserman declared.
“What are you doing here?” I demanded, surprised.
