It had never been this good. Had never made me scream and clench and beg like I existed on some other plane of existence where human bodies were capable of true rapture. It had never brought a rush of emotions so profound that nonsensical tears sprang to my eyes.
He was gently kissing my inner thigh when I finally resettled into my body. My hands unclenched from his hair.
His blue eyes flicked up toward me, full of satisfaction and sin. “You have a very dirty mouth, Honeycutt.”
I had no idea what words he’d pulled out of my mindless brain, but I could imagine they were far from polite. I was too boneless to care as he stripped off the rest of his clothes and rejoined me on the bed, crawling on top of me. His hands found mine, weaving our fingers together. Our eyes met, and I wrapped my legs around him.
We weren’t joined, but we were close. He held himself poised at the edge, teasing me. Teasing us both. Where did he obtain such self-control? I was savage, wanting him undone and wild. I tried to wiggle closer, but he held firm, keeping me pinned in place.
After a soft kiss, his deep voice rumbled against my throat. “You need something, Shay?”
I attempted once more to squeeze us closer than two humans could possibly be, but he didn’t budge. “You scared you can’t do better than that last part?”
“Maybe I just like to hear you beg.”
I met his eyes and laid on the most sugary voice I possessed. “Please?”
His crooked, reckless smile appeared.
If I had any doubts that Cam would be a phenomenal lover, he blasted them to bits of dust. I fell asleep that night wrapped in him, knowing my life had forever changed. Whether or not he kept me, I was ruined for anyone else. He already had my heart, but after one night in Cam Shepherd’s arms, I gladly relinquished my body and soul too.
No declarations, no vows, no signed pieces of paper could make me any more his. He owned me, and for the first time in my life, I found comfort in losing all control.

I woke warm and coated in Cam’s scent. Before opening my eyes, I breathed deeply, hoping that fragrance sank into my pores and lingered. I could fall in love with that scent over and over again. The night had been a sleepless venture in orgasms and admissions of how many times we’d wanted to jump each other over the past decade, and I didn’t expect this lazy Sunday to be any different, especially when he groaned and pulled me closer as I stirred.
Nothing could penetrate my bubble of happy.
Until a deep voice called up the stairs from the other room.
“Son? You ready?”
Cam went rigid next to me—and not in the good way. With a brief kiss on my shoulder, he shoved off the bed, calling out, “Overslept. Be down in a sec.”
My body turned cold. “Wait.” Was he really abandoning me? I reached out to him.
He took my hand and kissed my fingers. “I’ll just be a minute,” he whispered.
Uncertain if I should get out of bed and prepare to leave, I sat up, holding the sheet to my naked chest.
“No.” He pushed me back down and cupped my neck, laying a long kiss on my lips. “Stay.”
I nodded, still hesitant, but he ducked into another room that must have been a bathroom and emerged after a few seconds in boxers and a T-shirt, his brown sugar hair a wild mess. He glanced at me and did a double-take, freezing mid-step.
I shrank beneath the covers. “What?”
He shook himself. “I really like you naked in my bed.”
“Then don’t leave,” I murmured.
He held up one finger like You, stay then disappeared from the room.
“Hey, Dad,” he said at the top of the stairs, then his voice faded as he descended to the lower level.
I tried to eavesdrop, but the rumble of low voices was impossible to decipher. Instead, I stared around his bedroom, chuckling at the numerous torn condom packets on the floor. The walls were papered in a blue-gray geometric pattern with a slight sheen. Opposite the bed, a pristine white fireplace looked as if it rarely received any attention. Both of the remaining walls sported banks of French doors opening onto balconies, all of which hid behind white curtains thick enough to hide me, but sheer enough to let in morning sunlight.
I snuck out of bed and tiptoed into his bathroom, pausing for two seconds to take in the pure magnificence. It was all marble and luxurious cabinetry, with a huge multi-head shower on one side and a soaker tub on the other.
