I had never seen Caleb Whitmore speechless. There was always an answer. Always a story. Always an explanation.
I laughed through my tears. “She’s smart.”
“What did she say?”
I stared at him. “What do you think she said?”
“Blair.”
“She told me everything.”
His head lifted. “What does everything mean?”
“Oh.” I smiled. “Now you want answers?”
“Blair, what did she tell you?”
“She told me everything.”
He flinched.
“She told me y’all have sex. She told me you’re living this big happily married life.”
“Blair.”
“She even told me y’all were looking at surrogates.”
His eyes closed.
I laughed. “You’re a fucked up person.”
“Blair, listen—”
“No.”
I stepped closer. “You listen.”
He opened his eyes.
“You lied to both of us.”
“I didn’t—”
“You LIED TO BOTH OF US!”
My voice echoed. “You told me she was mentally unstable.”
“She was struggling.”
“You told her you wanted your marriage!”
“I was confused.”
I laughed. “Confused?”
“You don’t understand—”
“Oh, I understand perfectly now. You wanted both. That’s what this was.”
