“You never chose me.”

“That’s not true.”

“Yes, it is.”

He shook his head. “I love you.”

“Apparently, you love her more.”

His face scrunched up.

I stumbled backward. “Oh my God.”

“Blair.”

“You love her.”

“I have love for her.”

“Fuck you.”

“It’s complicated.”

“THERE IS THAT FUCKING WORD!”

I screamed. “Everything with you is complicated because complicated gives you room to lie!”

Caleb moved toward the door again.

Panic took over. He was leaving, but it wasn’t because Ravenna needed him. Not because a pipe burst. Not because of depression. Not because she threatened herself. He was running because Ravenna had told him she was done and the thought of losing her had broken him.

Caleb looked at me.

My tears fell harder. “Please.”

“Blair.”

“You said you loved me.”

“I do.”

“Then stay.”

His face twisted. “I need to talk to her.”

He turned and I ran at him. My fist connected with the back of his head.

Caleb stumbled forward and fell into the wall. “WHAT THE FUCK?”

I was already crying harder. “I HATE YOU!”

“Blair!”
