Klair leaned against the counter. “I am aware of that too.”

“I got pregnant by her husband.”

“Blair.”

“I knew enough.”

“You were wrong and you did some foul shit,” she said.

“I know.”

“And, I told your stupid ass that repeatedly.”

I looked up. “Do we need that part right now?”

“Yes, because I’ve been waiting three years for my official I told you so ceremony and somehow this doesn’t feel as good as I imagined. But you being wrong doesn’t make everything everyone does to you right.”

I frowned. “What does that mean?”

“It means Ravenna gets to hate you.”

I flinched. “She does.”

Klair shrugged. “If that woman never forgives you a day in her life, that’s her right.”

“I know.”

“But accountability and cruelty are not the same fucking thing.”

I looked at her.

She pointed toward my phone. “Somebody calling you out for what you did? Fine. But strangers deciding you’re going to fuck every married man? That’s bullshit.”

I looked away.

“They don’t know you. They just know what I did.”

I laughed bitterly. “What’s the difference?”

For the first time, Klair didn’t have a comeback. I picked up my phone and she didn’t stop me.

The screen opened directly to Facebook.

Another comment. HOMEWRECKER. Hundreds of likes.

I stared at it. “They’re right.”

Klair rolled her eyes “Don’t say that.”

“I’m the homewrecker.”

“No.”

I looked at her. “What else would you call it?”

“You participated in an affair.”

“With a married man.”
