Until The Lights Go Out

“Seriously, how do you fit in an F1 car?” she asked with a laugh. Hearing her laugh was one of myfavorite things in the whole world.

“They make it special.” I winked. But we both knew they make all the cars special so they fit the driver. I ran my hands over her spine, one curling around her side and holding onto her hip. She rolled her eyes at me before sinking down on me without any notice, making me grind my teeth while holding in a gasp of my own.

“Hmmm.” She looked down at me with a pure vixen smile.

“You like that, huh? Being in control.”

“Something like that,” she said, sitting up then down again, riding my cock.

“Fuck Maisey, you’re going to be the death of me.”

“Death by sex?” she laughed. “That actually fits you rather well.”

I circled a thumb over her clit, making her shake as she rode me. One of her hands pressed down on my chest as she sat straight, the other behind her on my thigh. And it was the most beautiful sight I had ever seen. Her eyes twinkled with excitement, and I thought, Yeah death by sex might be my future.

After telling Maisey I loved her, something shifted into place inside me, like some missing piece of myself had finally clicked where it belonged after years of carrying it around wrong. The constant noise in my head had quieted. Thoughts of her filled every cavity of my mind.

We spent the morning tangled together in her hotel bed, and honestly, I was pretty sure I could stay there forever and be perfectly content with life. Sunlight spilled softly through the gauzy curtains, washing everything in gold. Maisey was curled into my side beneath the sheets, red hair spread across the pillow and my chest like wildfire. One of her legs was thrown over mine while her cheek rested over my heart. Every few minutes, her fingers would absentmindedly trace lazy patterns against my ribs like she was reassuring herself I was still here. I planned on staying here as long as physically possible.

Unfortunately, reality kept vibrating aggressively on the nightstand. My phone screen lit up again.

Sebastian.

Again.

Followed by three missed calls from the Kaz team principal, Simmons.

Two from PR.

A few texts from Austin and Angel.

And about 10 more calls from Sebastian.

Honestly, impressive commitment. Because abandoning a Grand Prix four hours before lights out was apparently frowned upon. Who knew?

I stared at the ceiling with a grimace while Maisey shifted slightly against me, clearly trying not to smile.

“You’re in so much trouble,” she mumbled sleepily against my chest.

“You’re supposed to be on my side.”

“I am on your side.” She tipped her chin up just enough for me to see her grin. “Your side is just objectively insane.”

I huffed out a laugh despite myself, dragging my fingers down the warm skin of her bare back. Goosebumps rose beneath my touch instantly.

My phone buzzed again violently.

Maisey sighed dramatically this time. “I really don’t think Sebastian is going to stop calling.”

“He’ll survive.”

“Theo.”

I groaned as she pushed herself up onto one elbow, her hair a complete mess around her shoulders. She looked soft and warm and entirely too pretty for someone lecturing me before noon.

“You should probably talk to him.”

“I already know what he’s going to say.”
