“Mmm,” I hum, pulling my fingers out of my mouth. “I could do that every day, but I still don’t think it would be enough.”
Eliana bites her bottom lip, her eyes following my hand. “You must have the magic touch or something, because how the fuck did you just rock my fucking world with your hands?”
I chuckle, the smirk curling up on my mouth. “Only with you, beautiful.”
“I better be the only one.” She turns her body to face me completely. “You hiding things from me, tough guy?”
“Absolutely not. I just like hearing I can make you come with any part of my body… My hands, my mouth, my cock…” I shrug.
This time, she rolls her eyes at me. “Okay, don’t get so full of yourself now. Your ego is already gigantic.”
“Don’t get so full of –” I cut myself off, laughing at her. “Babe, you need to watch how you word things. I can twist them quick.”
“That wasn’t even supposed to be dirty,” she shoved her hand on my chest. “You just have a dirty mind.”
I put my hand on my chest, gasping. “Me? Never! I’m a Child of God.”
“So then why are you sinfully hot?” She asks, her thumb trailing against my jaw.
“Forgive me, Father,” I say, trying to keep my lips in a straight line.
“Didn’t strike you as the religious one,” she jokes.
“Mmm,” I hum, rolling on the bed so I was now on top of her. “If I was, I’d be committing a lot of sins, and I don’t think God would be a big fan of that.”
Eliana looks up at me, her hands moving to my biceps. “God would be one lucky guy to have you,” she says, her legs wrapping around my waist and pulling my hips closer to hers. “Too bad he can’t. Not yet, at least.”
I can’t help but smile as she pulls herself closer to me. I could lay like this all day – This was the comfiest place to be – in bed. With my girl.
“Yeah, I don’t think I’m ready to meet the man upstairs yet. I got too much I gotta do down here.”
“Like what?” she asks.
I hold myself up on one of my forearms, my other hand tracing along her jaw. “I have to win another World Series, that’s for sure.” I say. “I can’t go without winning another one.”
“One wasn’t enough?”
“Oh, it’s never enough, baby. Once you win one, you wanna win them all.”
Her fingers rake though my hair before her hands cup the back of my head. “You were always the guy that never settled. Always had to one-up everything you did.”
I nodded, leaning back against her touch. “I can’t have anyone doing it better than me. I have to be the best.”
“What would happen if someone did it better than you?”
“It won’t happen,” I say sharply. “That’s not how I work. You know that. You live with me and know how I operate. That’s not how I do things.”
She nods, studying my face. “I do. On the other hand, I also know putting all of this pressure on yourself is what results in you either getting extremely angry, or just shutting everyone and everything out of your world.”
This girl knows me too well.
“And sometimes the isolation works,” I reply. “I did it for five years and it brought you back to me.”
Eliana doesn’t say anything, just plays with the hair on the back of my head.
I was so hard on myself; it was tough for others to know how to react to things I would say about myself. I could tell she didn’t really know how to react.
“That doesn’t make me feel good…” she responds quietly. “That makes me sad.”
