‘Till this world exists, we will keep meeting in each birth.’
‘But you don’t believe in all that.’
‘Doesn’t matter. You do, and that’s more than enough reason to reincarnate.’
‘Do you believe in probability?’
‘Shut up, you just keep going on about everything.’

The best and the worst thing about life is that nothing is meant to be forever. After a certain age we all start figuring out that days pass, no matter how good or bad. We’re closest to ourselves when we cry, and to others when we laugh.
Sudha was usually always upbeat. She hardly ever got sad. But one day, when she got back from court, she was extremely mopey.
‘My mood is terribly off, yaar.’
‘What happened?’
‘One of my team members committed suicide.’
‘Oh god! Why?’
‘No idea, his marriage was fixed recently. We had lunch together the day before yesterday. He sat right next to me at work. He was always full of laughter and was such a decent guy. God knows what happened.’
‘Was it a love marriage or an arranged one?’
‘It was a love marriage. I have met the girl. She was really nice. The family wasn’t excited initially, but they agreed later. Yaar, I won’t be able to go to the court for some time, take me somewhere. I am so scared of marriage.’
‘Get your seat changed.’
‘How would changing my seat help?’
‘If you won’t see anything related to him, you won’t miss him.’
‘If something were to happen to me, you’ll move out of this house?’
‘Do you even realize what you’re saying?’
‘Tell me, if something were to happen to me for real what would you do?’
‘I’ll delete your number from my phone, first of all. Then I will delete all your photographs, one by one. Whatever will remind me of you, I’ll remove it from my life.’
‘How would that help? Would that block my memories too?’
‘I don’t know.’
‘You know the biggest tragedy of our generation?’
‘What?’
‘We have really few memories of each other. When a person leaves, we remember we could have made so many memories, but we didn’t. After someone passes away, we remember the memories we couldn’t make.’
‘I have no clue what you’re talking about. Don’t say such things; even my mood will darken.’
‘Yaar, you’re super weird. Talking about your mood when that guy, my colleague, is never going to come back.’
‘Yeah, so what if he’s dead. I don’t sympathize with those who commit suicide.’
