Chapter 3

Tharion

Mine.

The word pounds through my head with every beat of my wings.

Mine.

Mine.

Mine.

I tighten my arms around the little human pressed against my chest as I climb higher over the rooftops, the cool morning air rushing over us.

She lets out another squeal when she looks down and then buries her face against my chest.

I wonder if she can feel my heart beating for her.

My mate.

After all this time.

Ninety years I’ve been alive. Hundreds if you count the times I was sleeping in stone.

I gave up hope long ago that her timeline would cross mine. But she’s here. She’s truly here.

And I know it for sure.

Because she woke me.

One kiss and the stone shattered.

My impenetrable shell, crumbling down for her.

I smile as I hold her tight, glancing down at the top of her head with all of the wild red curls whipping around in the wind like fire. She smells so good. So feminine, like wild flowers and sweet fruit. I inhale the delicious scent as I flap my wings, bringing us higher, bringing us to a place in the sky where no one can interrupt us.

I want her all to myself.

My mate.

I hear her whimper and I nearly lose control of my wings.

How can such a tiny creature have complete control over my body? She broke my stone, made my legs weak, made my heart pound, made my mouth water, made my cock hard. If I wasn’t certain she was my mate, I’d think she was a cruel sorceress.

Her scent is divine, but I could smell something hotter lingering underneath it when she was in my arms back at the house.

Something rich.

Something delicious.

Desire.

My mate was aroused.

For me.

A possessive growl rumbles out of my chest before I can stop it.
