I couldn’t believe I’d done that. I couldn’t believe I’d been that…

Bold.

A tiny twitch came at the corner of my mouth. I’d never wanted before. But I wanted him. His touch. His focus. A moan escaped remembering his intensity. I wanted more. A lot more.

Everything reminded me of him. I switched off the water, then stepped out. Dried. Dressed. Checked myself in the mirror before I headed out of my room, like nothing that ever happened.

My smirk grew wider.

Alaric said this was going to be torture.

This was easy…

“The greenhouse first. The roof can wait.”

Alaric’s deep voice carried across the foyer.

My steps faltered.

Dragging harder on my right.

“Get someone to the east wall. No. Not that one. The second support beam.”

I rounded the corner.

Three men stood in front of him.

Contractors.

I barely looked at them.

My attention went straight to Alaric.

Black trousers.

White shirt.

Sleeves rolled to his forearms.

He was all business, wasn’t he?

God.

I hated how much I liked that.

My gaze ran down his body.

All. Business.

The men spoke.

Alaric listened.

Then made a decision.

No hesitation.

No uncertainty.
