After the messages.
After I’d decided the cellar was no longer secure.
A decision made inside my own fucking head until I’d given Knox the address. And someone had been waiting there with a camera.
No.
Not following.
Waiting.
My gaze lifted. Trees. Windows. Roofline. Darkness. Every shadow became a possibility. Every man became a question. For the first time in years, I didn’t know where the perimeter was.
“Lock the gates.”
Rafe stared at me.
“Alaric—”
“Now.”
He moved.
“Ghost stays inside.”
Knox reached for his radio.
“Falcon comes back.”
“What about the secondary site?”
“Abandon it.”
Knox froze. “The archive?”
“Leave it.”
His eyes widened. “Everything?”
“Everything.”
“Alaric—”
“If he knows where it is, it’s already compromised.”
I looked toward the house.
Nyssa.
Inside.
“Double the perimeter.”
Rafe stopped. “Think.”
“I am.”
“No, you’re reacting.”
