If I don’t marry Anthony, then my family is going to kill Drey, and if I do, I’m going to lose Drey forever.

This day can’t get any worse. All of this is because of some fucking property. No one gives a fuck about my happiness. They want to take away the one person who makes me happy.

My throat feels like it’s going to close up. My eyes water, and I stomp out of the bakery. Anthony calls out to me, “Babe! Where are you going?”

I flip him off and keep walking to my car. I look back and he goes back into the bakery.

I don’t even give a fuck anymore. I just want to run away from all this bullshit with my family.

Chapter 14

Drey

I open the storage unit, and everything is cleared out. “What the fuck?” The couch and desk is gone. Not even a piece of dust. I clench my jaw and reach into my pocket. I call Von, but it goes straight to voicemail.

I close the unit because maybe they moved it and forgot to give me a heads-up.

Cause I know ain’t no one stole all our shit. Stuff like that doesn’t happen. I hop back into my car and head for the interstate. My phone rings and it’s Zari.

I answer, “Sup, baby.”

“Drey…” she says, her voice trembling.

“Where you at? What’s wrong?”

“My dad knows everything.”

Shit. Tank probably said some shit after the birthday party. “It was probably Tank, fuck.”

“Nah, but we need to meet up and talk.”

“Where?”

“Definitely not my house or yours. Meet me at the parking lot at National Harbor. I’ll be in the back row.”

“Alright.”

The call ends. Is this why the storage was cleaned out? Trell knows I’ve been fucking around with his daughter, and that can’t be good.

I shake my head, gripping the steering wheel. I head for the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, and the Ferris wheel is lit up in the night sky.

Ion know how this conversation is going to go.

I get off the exit and head to the parking lot. I see her G-Wagon so I back in beside her. I get out of the car and get in the passenger seat.

“It’s bad, Drey,” she says, with tears in her eyes. Her eyes are red. She’s wearing all black, and her hair is in a high puff.

“How much does he know?”

“Everything. Kye told him I forced her into doing it, and he knows we’re fucking.”

“Damn,” I say, rubbing my beard. Shit is really worse than I thought. “Let me talk to him.”

“Hell, no. He said he will kill you if I don’t marry Anthony.”

“Why does he want you with that guy so bad?” I groan.

She swallows hard and leans back against her seat. She stares straight into the windshield. “His family is paid, as I told you, but apparently my family is getting some property, enough to let my parents retire.”
