For a long time, nobody moves. My pussy’s still twitching around him. My thighs are numb. My heart’s pounding into my mattress.
Then he lets go of my wrists.
I just lie there. Face down on my bed, skirt around my waist, panties around my knees, his weight on my back. Crying. Shaking. Still squeezing around him.
He pulls the mask off. I hear it hit the floor.
He puts his mouth right against my ear.
“You turned your phone off,” he says.
* * *
After, he lies down on my twin bed in all black with his feet hanging two whole feet off the end, and he pulls me on top of him. I let him. I don’t have nothing left. The bed creaks every time he breathes.
Something hard digs into my hip.
I reach down and feel it through his hoodie pocket. Heavy. Metal. I know what it is. He takes it out and sets it on my nightstand. Right next to my bonnet and my Carmex.
A gun. Next to my Carmex.
“You took my job,” I say into his chest.
“Yes.”
“You paid my tuition and ain’t tell me.”
“Yes.”
“You did something to my phone.”
“Yes.”
“You broke into my house…”
“I have keys.”
“…and changed my locks, and put a key on my keyring while it was on my shoulder…”
“Yes.”
“And then you put on a mask and…” My voice cracks. “And did that.”
“Yes.”
I lift my head and look at him. He looks right back. Calm. Not one bit sorry.
“Why?”
“You ran.”
That’s it. That’s all I get.
I put my head back down on his chest. His heart’s slow and steady. It’s not even beating fast. He just did all that, and his heart’s not even beating fast.
“I’m gonna run again,” I tell him.
His hand comes up my back and wraps around the back of my neck.
