I set the glass down in front of him. He looks at it, then up at me.

“Macallan eighteen,” I announce. “Neat. You’re welcome.”

His sexy as fuck lips twitch. “Sit.”

I shake my head, smiling teasingly. “I’m working.”

“You’re off at eleven. It’s almost time.”

I frown. “I’m off at two.”

He shakes his head. “You’re off at eleven.” Then he takes a sip of his drink.

I cross my arms over my tray. “What are you even still doing here? Last night you were talking about flying home.”

His pale eyes never leave my face. “Changed my mind.”

“Why?”

He just looks at me. Doesn’t blink. Doesn’t say another word. And I feel heat crawl up my neck.

“Nope,” I say. “Absolutely not. You don’t get to look at me like that and not say anything.”

“You asked a question you already know the answer to, Dylan.”

“I don’t know anything about you except your first name and that you’re crazy.”

He chuckles. “That’s enough for now.”

I huff, turn around and walk back to the bar, but I can feel his eyes on my back the whole way. And I put a little extra swing to my hips. Because apparently I’m crazy too.

At eleven o’clock on the dot, Ray comes up behind me at the service station.

“Dylan, sweetie. Go ahead and clock out.”

“Ray. I’m on till two. I need these hours.”

He won’t look at me. He’s sweating. Ray only sweats when the health inspector comes. “You’re getting paid through close. Full shift. Tips too. Mr. Maksimov already…” He waves his hand toward the corner. “It’s handled.”

“Mr. who?”

Ray’s already speed-walking away.

Maksimov. I don’t know that name. But the way Ray said it, real quiet, like it might hear him, tells me everything.

I march over to the corner booth with my apron still on. “You got me sent home?”

“I got you paid to go home.” He stands up and buttons his jacket. Standing up, he’s even worse. I have to tilt my whole head back. “Get your things.”

“I’m not going nowhere with you.”

“Yes, you are.”

“Sir. With all due respect. I don’t know you. I’m not getting in a car with a man who broke somebody’s nose on a table last night.”

“I didn’t break it.”
