“And if you want more control over our meals—” He starts.
“No.” I shake my head. “I miss your cooking.”
“Thank fuck.” He nuzzles behind my ear. “I don’t want any more takeout for at least a month.”
“Not ever,” I mumble. “Stackers is dead to me.”
“Now, let’s not go that far. It’s not the Sweet Stack’s fault, either.”
His hand slides down my back, fingers tracing the curve of my ass, and he tugs me closer. His mouth finds mine, and I kiss him back, my hand flat on his chest.
He starts to pull me down into the blankets, his body shifting beneath me, before he stiffens with a hiss.
I pull back. “Your ribs.”
“They’re fine,” he wheezes, his hand clamped over his side.
“Bullshit.” I slide off the bed and stand, naked in the cool bedroom air. “That’s a six. Maybe a seven.”
Kain glares at me. “I’m fine.”
“You’re not.”
I stride to the dresser and pull out a pair of sweatpants I keep in the drawer Kain assigned to me, because going to my own room is too far.
Stepping into them, I open another drawer and toss his pair at him, hitting him in the chest. “Put these on.”
He catches them with a grunt. “Why?”
“Because.” I plant my hands on my hips. “No more sex until those ribs are healed. Doctor’s orders. My orders. Everyone’s orders.”
Kain stares at the sweatpants in his hands, then at me, and amusement creeps in. “You’re serious.”
“Deadly.”
He shakes his head, but a grin lingers as he tugs the sweatpants on, favoring his injured side. “So cruel.”
“Nurse Sim is back on.” I pad toward the door. “Which is what you need right now, not a horny Omega who can’t keep his hands off you.”
“Both would be ideal.”
“Tough.” I pause in the hallway. “Suppressants for me. Food for us. More pain meds for you. In that order. We can discuss the romance path after the doctor clears you.”
His laugh follows me down the hall.
The dim light of dusk drifts in from the windows as I flip on the bathroom light. Discarded clothes litter the floor, and my open bottle of suppressants still sits on the bathroom counter. I don’t know how we managed not to knock them over while we were fucking, but I’m thankful as I shake two pills into my palm.
I dry swallow, grimacing as they catch in my throat. Bending, I pat around until I find my glasses and shove them onto my face. The room resolves around me, and I grab my hoodie from the floor to fish my phone from the pocket.
The screen lights up with a notification from myself.

My stomach drops.
I sent the reminder hours ago, before Kain’s mouth distracted me enough to forget all about it.
“Shit.” I turn toward the bedroom. “Kain, I need to—”
