He can keep all the evil and bury himself with it for all I care.
Only I had a different mission now, one that he’ll never see coming.
One where he tosses in his bed every day, losing his mind about me.
One where one day, he will finally see me, but it will already be too late for him by then.
Because I would’ve killed him, enjoying every second of it while he begged for his life. Just like how I mauled his favorite pet to death. Just like how I shot his first love in the chest.
Arkane Stormhold would soon have death knocking on his door.
Only he’ll never know when.
CHAPTER 42
ARKANE
Weeks later
My eyes wouldn’t dare blink away from her, the sun from the late morning dancing on the slopes of her beautiful face, bringing out the golden flecks in her eyes and the soft contours of her face.
She was so beautiful.
And mine.
All mine.
Many days could come and go, but this right here? This silence, this peace I felt with my wife couldn’t be bought even with a million bucks. Who knew all my life, this was what I’d been fucking craving? Longing.
With her, I forgot everything, especially that one unfinished business that’d been nagging my nights.
It didn’t take long after that day for the city to be completely cleaned out. One by one, I took out every single traitor and either buried them deep or shipped them far away from my city.
Petra Hagen conveniently died in a car accident, and his house was completely closed to the public for the foreseeable future.
I destroyed the tunnel systems and restored the house to its original condition. If not, I made it more formidable now that I had the most precious package living with me.
Karl now took it upon himself to run for mayor, and with the way things were going, he was soon going to win.
I opened the borders, and business ran as usual, if not better.
I still let the Covenant have free rein over their business in the Lowers, and for the most part, Killian was doing a much better job than his fake father. He was even taking up more legal ventures, turning over a new leaf.
The Twins was now completely under my control.
And no one could ever dare come for it again. That was, if they still wanted their head on their necks.
Everyone knew who held the true power now, both the friend and the foe. Even the air in the city spoke of it. Even the fucking White Hand knew that now, which was why he was hiding like a coward. Only I knew he still had it on me and wouldn’t hesitate to even wait for years to put me in the grave.
I had done it. I had taken back the power, and my alliance with the legion remained stronger than ever. But it still wasn’t finished.
The White Hand was still breathing the same air, smiling and laughing, wearing the same clothes as my family, a sheep in disguise. It didn’t matter how hard I searched. He left no trace behind. And no motherfucker had ever seen his face.
There was nothing more he could do now.
He lost, and he knew that.
After the big speech about saving this city, he turned out to be just another coward in the end, hiding to save his life.
